Guys we have to quit this talking about forming a new party. We have 2 parties to work with. How about the LIBERTARIAN party HELLOOOO!!!It represents Ron Pauls veiws.

Ron Paul WILL VOTE LIBERTARIAN THIS ELECTION!!!

Stop telling me the libertarian party can't win. That is establishment talking there and you know it.Or maybe your a neocon trolling.

I'm all for taking over the Republican party too but please look at what has happened. They have changed the rules to prevent us from doing so.

I said before that this will probably be the first and last time that I will be a delegate for the republican party. Not by my choice but because I'm not seeing anybody in the future to fill Ron Pauls shoes. And even if I did become a delegate they have changed the rules so they can pick and choose which delegates count.

Explain to me why I should stay in the republican party. As a delegate what can I do when we vote for nominations for president?Obstain on all votes because I won't support any of them?

All the BS the republicans have pulled this election...

Tell me why I should stay.

And if you really are a Neocon troll just trying to turn me to the dark side please understand that even if I stay in the Republican party I'm NOT GONNA VOTE FOR ROMNEY!!!Or Bush,Ryan,Mcain,Christie,Santorum,Newt or any other neocon So why would you want me in your party?

Vote LP this election if you like. But stay in the GOP and continue to work within the Party. Vote out the local and then state Party leaders. Get ready for a Rand Paul run in 2016 or 2020.

Do what you gotta do over the next 3 months, but don't forget what has already been gained this season.

Much of those changes can be undone in 2014 if we get more on the committee. There are still several who will be taking their seats in January. And there were others who joined in because they knew it was not right what they were trying to do.

Every member who voted for the new rules must be held accountable, and 1 by 1 they will be replaced.

I don't see any reason why we can't do both. A large chunk of us don't see any value in going forward with the GOP, and a large chunk of us don't see any value in leaving the GOP.

I think they both have their purpose and roles to play.

But yes, if we do go down the 3rd party road, we should definitely start a new one. The others carry far too much baggage and have nothing to offer us.

Last I checked, the LP isn't on enough ballots to win even on paper. Then there's the fact that they don't get into TV debates. Face it, Boobus is too lazy to research this stuff. If it ain't in MSM, Boobus will most likely be ignorant of it.

If you are going to do politics, please stay out of 3rd parties. They are a massive waste of time and money.

That depends. They're only a massive waste of time and money if the goal is to win elections.

As a tool for organization and maintaining cohesion, in addition to some amount of education, I think it does serve a useful purpose.

You can educate a lot more people in one of the major parties. Ron Paul is the prime example of this. He is a libertarian who has had much more success using the GOP as his vehicle than the Libertarian Party.

I'm less concerned about the education aspect lately. I don't think we'll see just a whole lot more success in the near future on that front.

I'm more concerned about cohesion. We need some way of staying organized so that when the collapse hits we are prepared for it. Taking over the Republican party has a role to play there also, but we will need an organization that we can call truly our own so that we can do what we need to do when it comes time to do it.

If you want cohesion and the ability to stay organized, the Free State Project is by far the best answer.

The Libertarian Party needs to hit 15% in polls to get into debates.
If the Libertarian Party gets 5% of the vote in November, it will qualify for 10s of millions in matching funds.

According to Gary Johnson, the Libertarian Party will be on the ballot in all 50 states.
"Be Libertarian with me for one election."

Take over NH and kick all the statist assholes out. Only obtainable freedom in your or my lifetime.

Libertarians (though probably not GJ), believe taxation is theft. It would by hypocritical for them to accept matching funds.

The LP has only really been successful at having state rep level candidates in NH and a few other states such as VT and AK. Most of those candidates weren't even originally elected as LP candidates. Plus, at least in NH, some of the LP candidates are less pro-liberty than Republicans. Oh, and LP members are getting elected as state reps in NH, even today. However, the candidates winning today are members of the LP but run with the Republican Party.

Anyway, my point is, good luck with the LP :)

I'm not going to go back and find my original post but right now the Libertarian Party isn't even the biggest 3rd party in Nevada.

And no that's not a typo.

You really think a party that can't even carry itself, in perhaps it's best state, among ONLY 3rd parties is going to win anything?

Your out of your mind if you think the LP can do anything. Before Ron Paul came around their numbers had been dwindling and their support was almost non-existent, any recent rebirth of the LP has only been because of what Ron Paul did as A REPUBLICAN and that alone should be proof enough of why wasting any time with the LP is a joke.

I only go at this so harshly because we're going to fracture ourselves into two minorities if we can't unite under the GOP banner. If you really hate these people as much as you say you do then you'll stay in the GOP- the one place they clearly don't want any of us.

I've said it before and i'll say it again... you need sheep to win elections and there are no sheep in the LP.
