Snip...
One Weibo post said it would be fitting if Abe atoned with his life for Japan’s invasion of China before World War II just a day after the 85th anniversary of the start of hostilities in 1937. That post got 210,000 likes.
And here, my old friends, you see two of the key problems that likely doom humanity to eternal chaos, inefficiency, disease, poverty, misery, and piles of dead bodies. Firstly, they remain hot nearly a century after relevancy has passed. Secondly, they hold accountable those who had nothing directly to do with any of it.
I, too, suffer from this when I feel the impulse to drop ten thousand nukes on China, obliterating every last stinking one of those scum because my midbrain extrapolator takes over the emotions, which in turn overwhelm the logic centers, and there we go once more into the breech of human Stupid.
I wish this were just a feature of those whom I find disagreeable, so I could in all good conscience plot to wipe them from the earth. But I cannot because it isn't so. It is a feature of virtually every man skulking about this planet and it may yet prove the doorway back to stone-age life for humanity.
This is one of the big reasons we stand in peril - our reptilian brain takes over and we go crazy, most often on the flimsiest of purported "evidence".
Beware the Ides of March? Foo... beware the Ides of the human midbrain, for it is the devil made flesh in every man.
After Abe died, a post saying “Let the celebrations begin!” got more than 150,000 likes within 30 minutes.
See what I mean?
In a sign that the Chinese government didn’t want the nationalist sentiment to spiral out of control, Hu Xijin wrote on Weibo before news Abe had died that “this is the time to put aside political disputes.” Hu, the former editor of the Communist Party’s Global Times newspaper, added: “I hope there can be more people who understand and join me.”
Uh huh... all theater for international consumption. I can imagine the actual scene behind closed doors as each of China's innermost politicos gathered, taking their turns masturbating with wild and noisy abandon before his colleagues in crime... "Oh... OH.... *OHHHHH*.... Def to Jah Pahn... DEF TO JAH PAHN... OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH...."
I pity the janitor having to clean up
that mess, the next morning.
Jin Canrong, a professor of international relations at Renmin University in Beijing who once suggested China will be ready to seize Taiwan by force in 2027, wrote on Weibo that his followers should rein in their commentary. “What happened today is a tragedy,” Jin said.
More image spin. Don't believe it. I'm pretty sure I heard him moaning wildly, too.
Abe angered the Chinese government and especially the more nationalist segment of the ruling party both while he was in office and after he stepped down, especially for pushing Japan to increase defense spending and revise the pacifist article in its constitution. In 2013, his visit to the Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo drew a quick rebuke from China for paying respects at a site that memorializes war-dead including World War II criminals.
I find my "fuck China" gene getting very itchy, which suggests I stop now.
