I've been following Ford for a while now--quality is better than Toyota and I think their style is better. My brother just bought a Ranger and I like it even though I'm not much into trucks.

If any US auto mfg deserves to make it through this, it's Ford.

Kinda sad that we now give credit and praise for things that should be routine. I'm reminded of a Chris Rock routine where he rips people for being praised for things they should normally do. Like men who think they are special because they don't beat their kids or cheat on their wives. We've lowered our expectations so much that just being normal and doing what is right is considered praise worthy.

Hell, Henry Ford STARTED (or at least gave a big push to, depending on who you ask) the auto industry. They ain't going down easily. Even if they have to declare bankruptcy, they'll be back.

Ford was the first major automobile manufacturer, and will be the last one standing. So long as they keep putting out quality, I'll keep buying it.

Im bummed though that they have retired anything big and beefy that doesnt start with an F and end with a 50. I guess my next car will have to be a truck.

I bought their last great full size muscle car. I guess Ill have to rebuild it when it dies...

Yea I always liked Ford, I got a 1991 lincoln a used 2002 lincoln and a 1997 expedition. I'm not going to say they are the greatest cars, but at least now I can say I'm glad I went with Ford. Shame on GM and Chrysler.

well i can honestly say the best vehicle ive ever had and still have and drive is my 1970 f100 with a 302 in it. it still runs the original tranny in it and the original rear end which must have 4-5 hundred K on them.

of course ford chevy or any older vehicle back then was better IMO than anything now and will last forever if you treat them right.

Well Ford knows that any longterm viability depends on them not pissing off their consumers. GM and Chrysler are dead men walking. I will never buy anything from those companies ever again.

I wouldn't put too much praise their way. In the article it does speak about Ford wanting to have a "reserve" (best way to explain it) to pull a loan from if the economy got worse. Now this is certainly much more backbone then GM or Chrysler, but still...it is not logical to respect this company for not buying into this socialist stimulus crap. I will admit though, as with the other two companies, the uber-oppressive UAW has severely held back their abilities. Just as well, unreasonably quickly increasing emissions and gas mileage standards have caused these companies to suffer terribly. I remember reading a story about factory line workers making nearly $80/hour with their benefits. I mean...how can any company profit with their tyrannical union rule?

Don't forget Ford's legal department is involved in some slimy dealings. One case involves Ford trying to eliminate all use of the word "mustang" in titles of any entertainment venue (websites, magazines, etc.) without royalty fees. A ridiculous abuse of copyright. Even worse, Ford actually wanted to restrict people from selling anything with an image of a Ford car on/in it...and I mean personal photos taken by people of cars they already bought. I'm just saying, no one should respect a company that goes out of its way to stretch laws and irritate their customers.

f150 is a great truck.
the styling of it is much better than toyota or dodge imo
my dad has a 98 with 150k, never broken down, no problems what so ever
so i'd say they're built pretty solid.
