If the Obamacare mandate is unconstitutional, would the same apply to car insurance?

My first post BTW. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forums. My state does not force you to buy car insurance. However, most people are forced to buy their insurance because their loan papers tell them they need to.

Because the Obamacare mandate is applied to persons just for being alive.

Whereas with car insurance, technically, one still has a choice in the matter, which is, don't drive and there's no mandate to purchase car insurance.

Also, mandatory auto insurance is legislated at the state level, where there is more constitutional authority for such actions.

Not a damn bit of difference in principle.
In fact Mandatory car insurance is often used as a justification for Mandatory health insurance.

It was promoted using the same false assumptions (lies).

Well, they are both unconstitutional at the Federal Level.

Car insurance is not a federal mandate, and I can think of two states that do not require car insurance, and only one state that requires health insurance.

Also, as pointed out already, you have a choice about whether you choose to drive a car to avoid the mandate in your state. You have no choice in your existence. Only your mother does.

Thanks for the responses

I hadn't thought about the fact that not every state requires it. I know in California you have to have auto insurance.
