"Can Paul win? No."

I like Chris Cillizza, but gimme a break. To be fair, it's not just him, but all of media is doing that, and quite frankly it's very annoying. Even if you're not a supporter of Paul's, I thought the idea of the press was to report the facts impartially, and even when it opines to make it clear they're editorializing yet still avoid force-feeding the people.

Obama's Campaign Theme

Wow! Did anyone view the video? Impressive! That's Ron Paul's message presented in a most effective way! If Obama has decided to make this his campaign's main theme, Hillary has a problem!!

The question here is how can the Ron Paul campaign take advantage of this to win the nomination.

On a national level, Paul vs Obama with both candidates trying to win with the same message! Good for this country!!

I think RPaul would win based on knowledge and experience!!
 
Obama v. Ron Paul

Barack borrows from Ron Paul's book in a couple of ways (from what I've heard recently) and ONLY in terms of campaign strategy. It is working well for him.

The change theme is something he and Hillary have both tried to brand themselves with. Barack made that 1984 video with that in mind, and it worked to an extent. He seems a little wishy washy, though, and whether he said bombing Pakistan was a good idea or not, it was taken that way. It hurt him pretty badly.

Then he got Oprah to stump for him, and that is working out well. Oprah makes viewers feel empowered - much like Ron Paul's grassroots volunteers - so her Obama campaign is reaffirming this change message at a time when Clinton is vulnerable. The Norman Hsu scandal and the intern emails and just anything she does makes her seem cold, grasping, ambitious and corrupt. Obama has a good chance at the Democrat nomination.

However, Obama has an edge in a general election, if he successfully adopts Ron Paul's "change" image. This means nothing, if he doesn't adopt Ron Paul's CHANGE message. Obama has this Bobby Kennedy thing going on, being young and charismatic, and the media will pick up on this.

That's what we're up against. Ron Paul is a Barry Goldwater era conservative. When the great politician's son offered an endorsement, nobody said anything. The best Kennedy men died; the media is still bringing their corpses out and running them in elections. I wish the world was fair, but we can back Ron Paul and hope for the best.

Yes, I also think it is more strategy than substance when it comes to Obama! I just wonder if the similarity is going to be seen the significant by others in the Republican party as another reason to marginalize RP.

Thank-you everyone for your comments here. I find it difficult to get the true picture of what is happening being in NZ and it is frustrating not being able to DO anything...but this thread has given me heart AND made me laugh.

I don't know how many of the listed Ron Paul sites listed below you have had time to visit given you are all so busy campaigning but IHateRonPaul.com has got some interesting observations in it pertaining to this thread.

That line is priceless, and shows how out of touch many political horserace watchers and pollsters are with actual voters.

That shows you the credibility of their statement that he can't win. He has a freaking blimp and clearly has a shot at breaking the fundraising record for any candidate Democrat or Republican on 12/16/07.

But I liked the fact that they didn't mention Fred Thompson at all, which is obviously their way of saying this guy is a complete dud.
 
Ron Paul got over 9% in the straw poll back in June. He's had 6 months to get his message out and a legion of supporters. We just did a lit drop here in Cedar Falls today and most everyone we talked to had heard of Dr. Paul and were very favorable towards him. I expect him to at least double that figure, if not more.

I'm glad the press is lowering expectations for Ron Paul in Iowa. A surprise result generates additional free press and I have no doub that Ron Paul will crack double digits in Iowa which is more than what the MSM is predicting.
 
Folks we have a good shot at winning both primaries; don't get discouraged from the negative reporting by the MSM. As Dr. Paul said, they have no idea of his vast support (paraphrasing). I predict that on the 16th of December, after the mega-money bomb, and the Tea Part celebrations going on all over this nation, they will see the real picture and show proper respect for Ron Paul and us supporters from that point on.

On August 5, 1864, Farragut gave the order to ignore the risks: “Damn the torpedoes! Full steam ahead!”. He won the battle.
