Thank you for your prayers, but we are not out of the woods yet. We got her off the vent yesterday! She is so weak, and the doctors are adamant about putting her on synthetic nutrition to help her gain her strength. I am fighting with them on this now--she needs a good source of vitamins and minerals to gain her strength! They also have her on an antibiotic (meropenem) with one of the side effects are breathing issues but there are many others.

The thing I am learning, very quickly though all of this is-- never get sick without having an advocate who is skeptical of conventional medicine and question EVERYTHING they do. They certainly do not like me because all I do is ask them questions and why they are doing what they are doing, and that is okay, I am not in this to make friends. I am in this to get my mother healthy again and home where she is most comfortable.

Someone just emailed me and said there have been 22 reported deaths from the flu in Pennsylvania. True?

I guess there are two questions there. Is it true that was reported? And is that number actually accurate?

Both the kids had the flu, neither my wife or I got it.

All four of us did get the norovirus though, that's the sickest I've been in my life. Slept for 48 hours, half on the bathroom floor because I couldn't crawl back to the bed, and I'm being serious.

I don't ever remember having the flu and I can't remember the last time I got a flu shot. I'm certainly not getting one.
