Ron Paul is calling for a brokered convention.
This means the convention will vote on 2nd ballot.
This means that all delegates in the convention will RESET!!
2nd ballot vote is how we win the nomination.

SO ITS IMPORTANT TO GO TO CONVENTION AS A RON PAUL DELEGATE!!! EVEN IF YOUR FORCED TO VOTE FOR mccain or ronmeny IN FIRST BALLOT.

do whatever it takes to become a delegate in your state process.

This is widely cited and totally wrong. Unfortunately our HQ doesn't seem to know the rules.

Rules "binding" delegates are determined by the states: some delegates are not bound at all, others for the first few votes (first, second or third), while other states bind their delegates until they are released.

In order to be eligible to be nominated at all [RNC Rule 40(b)], one requirement is to win the majority of delegates in five states (including DC and territories, RNC Rule 27).

Bradley, I've seen how touchy you are about this subject, and I don't get it. I think it is unfair to say the OP was "totally wrong". You should agree with his point, and could mention that Florida, specifically, binds for 3 votes, but why rain on the parade?

Getting delegates is very important and should be drilled into peoples head as much as possible, but you come off as being opposed to it! Strange, considering you know the most about the process! I recommend being more supportive of peoples attempts to spread the delegate message.

Yes, getting delegates is imperative. That is why I am vigilant against the misinformation drives and have been promoting education on the real rules.

Ok so FL delegates are bound for 3 votes... there are still a lot of states that don't bind their delegates at all... or who only bind them for the 1st ballot. Who knows... maybe we will make it to the 4th ballot... in which case I sure hope that we have RP supporters as delegates

Hey Bradley, I know in some states (or is it all states?) delegates can vote themselves unbound with a majority vote in the state convention. Can Florida do this?

I'm sure you know what I'm talking about, but as an example for others, let's say Romney has 40% of the delegates, Ron Paul has 30% of the delegates, and McCain has 30% of the delegates. Ron Paul delegates and McCain delegates could team up at the state convention and vote themselves unbound, because together they have more than 50%. Now that they're unbound, they can vote for whoever they want to in the national convention.

Again, I don't know if Florida can do this, but it will probably be done in other states. Having Ron Paul supporters as delegates always matters.

Yes. It is just too late now to do it in most states. Mine expires 1/30 but the state coordinator had someone tell me not to do it. So I guess they have enough. (In my state it costs $125.00 to get on the delegate ballot). I think HQ has been on this for quite awhile.

I was at that meeting in August where this Rule 10 was enacted. It was the biggest load of BS and a huge fight with the RPOF. Don't even get me started at how mad I am at the RPOF ..... and there are a lot of us that are!
