Five ways drinking helps your health

Someone who wants to separate truth from lies does not ignore overwhelming evidence from thousands of scientists across all continents who come to the same conclusion. When it comes to fluoride, for example, donnay refuses to acknowledge any evidence when presented to her by me, zippyjuan, and others. She just likes to scaremonger with phrases like 'toxic waste' and copypastas from unscientific, biased sources.

I used to be anti-fluoridation, until I actually researched and saw the facts.

What right do you have to put shit in my water against my wishes?

Are you in favor of mass drugging with statin drugs in water supply, like some are suggesting be done?

Christ's first public miracle was to change the water into wine at the wedding of Cana.
I very much find enjoyment in sharing wine with friends. Especially on Sundays, when it becomes the food for eternal life.

This is a government-funded study I could find value in. :)

According to Eduardo... if the industry pays scientists to say statin drugs are the only way to lower cholesterol, then they lobby government to make it a law and enforce it. Because you are too stupid to understand science and chemistry.

Moderate amounts of alcohol are good for almost all adults. However, 2 beers for an average adult male is not very much. Even 4 drinks, as long as it was only a couple nights a week would still be moderate. Anyway, yes. A large study shows that people who consume moderate amounts of alcohol live the longest. People that consume large amounts of alcohol live the next longest. People that consume no alcohol live the least longest.

The recommended maximum is 2-3 drinks for females and 3-4 for males. Other considerations also apply such as how often you drink, body weight.... While it is generally fine to have one per day, it is also good to skip a couple days or enjoy only on weekends.

Everyone needs better cavity protection, not everyone needs to have their cholesterol lowered. Even so, flouride occur naturally in a lot of water supply, and in some cases (mostly around California and it's adjoining states and the Great Lakes states) it's much higher than the amount cities add.

In either case, it just makes the case for water privatization as opposed to be a public work....even then..I'd be willing to bet most will choose to flouridate their water.

So, you think you somehow have the right to drug my water supply because "I need it".

Got it.

No, I completely agree with all the government funded studies which prove that alcohol in moderation has health benefits.

I'm just exposing donnay's inconsistency when she claims she doesn't trust any study funded with government money and that they are all lies.

NH doesn't have a separate alcohol tax because the state already has a monopoly on alcohol sales.

Why do you have to go after specific people on the board about trivial things?

@Edwardo,
I have only used -rep a few times, but dang I really had to hold back hard to keep from neg repping that shit you are pulling on donnay!

edit: It's not just about "government" studies, but all studies that can be found, and perhaps a bit of common sense.

Donnay, I'm not trying to pick on you personally and I believe you have every right to believe what you do. However, when you constantly post pseudoscience with unsubstantiated claims which virtually the entire scientific and medical community refute with study after study after study then I feel compelled to call you out on it. I don't mean to call your character into question, and I'm sorry for getting a little petty in this thread. I will continue to call you out on things I believe are false, but I will keep to criticizing the claims and posting what I believe are facts in response and do my best to keep the debate civil and respectful.

Edit: I'll add that a few drinks tonight have had a positive health effect on me, I'm nicer right now :p :D

My childish outburst for today.

You're so very welcome.

I have had my carrot juice this morning, and it has had a positive effect on me too. However, what you keep on repeating is that a whole scientific community say Fluoride is fine to add into the water supplies. Again, let me be very clear; the entire scientific community can say whatever they want and they can put out their peered-review studies, etc...but, it still doesn't give a government the right to take those finding and arbitrarily force it on the people. This is what government has done and continues to do. I have also proven my case that there are independent chemists and scientists who disagree with government. You summarily dismiss them--example: Dr. Paul Connett.

I post information not to force people to believe me, but to make them, in many cases, inquisitive to want to research this information for themselves. If they want to debate, I am all for debate, plus, as a general rule I will add information I have researched to back up why I have come to these conclusions. I don't have all the answers and in some cases I may be dead wrong, but I am not going to stand down because a few people refute my claims with the same establishment rhetoric and talking points.

In the past week and a half, I have been -repped by you (2) and Fox McCloud (1). Zippy and I have gone round and round on issues, and he has NEVER once -repped me. As much as we disagree, I have respect for Zippy because he doesn't -rep me for disagreeing with what I believe and my findings. In the six years that I have been on this forum, I have used the -rep under a dozen times and have used the "ignore button" for about four people--some of whom are no longer on this forum, in fact. I don't take kindly to people who are crass, rude and character assassinate people just because they do not believe what a person has posted--then -rep them with childish remarks like: "Cut out your scaremongering." I thought we were all adults here? The same establishment you support does far more scaremongering. I do not live in fear and refuse to live in fear because it cripples people, mentally and physically. Knowledge is power, and by that I mean, if someone post something that I cannot believe or seems too far-fetched to comprehend, I do not dismiss it out-of-hand, I will research it for myself.

~ Good day.

I didn't dismiss them, I just noted that many further and newer studies (across many countries) contradicted his results, and reviews of the study he published revealed that he didn't control for variables, that's why I didn't put very much weight into his claims or his study (referring to Dean Burk here).

And this is precisely why I -repped you to begin with. If you read my comment, the reason why I -repped you was super clear; it wasn't because you hold and opposing view, I think you're wrong, don't like your sources, or any of that, it's because you twisted my words once, then immediately turned around, claimed you didn't, and misrepresented what I said, again in that very same paragraph where you claimed you didn't twist my words. It's a pet peeve of mine, and I have low tolerance for misrepresentation. I'm sorry if you perceived it as an attack on your view, but it had nothing to do with that.

I very often disagree with you. However, I absolutely believe that you are right on target here.

Donnay's pseudo-scientific threads are mostly ignorant, sometimes flat out dangerous. If you and others wouldn't constantly call her out on it, it might cause great harm to people reading it and accepting it as truth.

And not only that, but her style of arguing is really annoying. She makes claims based on terrible sources - that often don't even make the same argument she's making - and when she's called out on it and shown facts contradicting her she either completely ignores it and changes the subject to some other unfunded claim or simply refuses to accept the source because it's mainstream science which cannot be trusted.

I usually really try not to be divisive, but Eduardo is totally right to point that out, imho. I'd also like to add that this is nothing personal against donnay. I simply feel just as passionate about those topics as she and believe she is mostly totally wrong.

Well for the record; I hope you are right and I am terribly, terribly wrong. The bottom line is government doesn't have a right to force medicate people and by extension helping their cronies make massive profits by dumping their toxic by-product into the drinking water.

Dr. William Hirzy, a senior chemist at the EPA, highlights the irony of his agency’s
policy:

“If this stuff gets out into the air, it’s a pollutant; if it gets into the river, it’s a
pollutant; if it gets into the lake, it’s a pollutant; but if it goes right straight into your
drinking water it’s not a pollutant. That’s amazing.”

Are you aware there is a difference between naturally occurring fluoride and the toxic waste they add to the water supply?

Donnay's pseudo-scientific threads are mostly ignorant, sometimes flat out dangerous.

The only thing that is "dangerous" I see around here is using the force of government to drug our water supply, donnnay is not trying to impose a ban on fluoride where one could not add whatever they want to their own water supply, sort of like having a water softener.
