Firsthand account of voter stupidity in Florida

My parents are "retired" and live in Florida. Naturally (like everyone else their age) they work the polls


So I spoke to my mom tonight who has been working early voting. And she said they had dozens of people today alone screw up their ballot by voting for more than one candidate in a single race.


The sick thing? One of them was a cop. Another an attorney. And one guy was a doctor.

I did exit polling at a precinct during the primary. There were 4 or 5 elderly people exiting the polls could not remember who they voted for two minutes earlier! This is disgusting. I mean, really, we should have some kind of a minimum competency test to be able to register to vote.
And don't knock the poll workers. I inquired about doing that and one of the requirements is that you must remain on site the whole 14 hours they are open. Some of those poll workers are 30 years older than I am, but I had to turn down the job because I do not have the stamina to do a 14 hour stint. My hats off to any old fart that can hack putting in that many hours.

My mom said overwhelmingly that the early voting in Florida will go to Obama just because of the type of people she has seen in the polling place.

Yep, and they are not allowed to leave the building or talk on their cell phone the entire time. They are not allowed to have the radio or TV on either or bring their laptop. It's a boring job. That being said I'm going to be a poll watcher in TN on Tuesday to help ensure accurate elections, but to also get better known within my local GOP.

My hats off to any old fart that can hack putting in that many hours.

I early voted yesterday and managed to overhear 2 idiots. They passed out a sample ballot that had all the elections for every district. One lady was looking at it and said in complete and total confusion "why are there more than two people under the president column? It's only supposed to be McCain and Obama. What's going on?" Then someone explained to her what third parties were and she was like "oh my god. Are you serious? Who would vote for them?!" I wanted to punch her... hard

Then when I was voting I overheard a lady behind me who was very upset because she couldn't vote for all of the congressional races in the county. She said "but they're all on my sample ballot!" The election worker had to explain that everyone is on the sample ballot, but you only get to vote for your district on the real ballot. The idiot lady kept complaining and throwing a fit.. as if the election worker would make an exception for her and let her vote in every district!

I used to think everyone should be able to vote... Lately I have become convinced that you should have to pass some minimal intelligence test.

I screwed up my ballot by pre-maturely writing in Barry Goldwater Jr. before Gail Lightfoot became the official VP for the RP write-in.. I took it in today to have that fixed.

Its pretty sad when many of us have learned more in the last year about our electoral system than many older people have learned their entire lives.

That's because people that age always just went along with things because they trusted their government and the media. They never protested or sought to change the system. They were just along for the ride mentality and never had the desire, or more importantly the need, to attempt to change their government.

I am glad you pointed that out. Some people even seem to forget recent history like the 60's. Also these "old people's" grandmothers or mothers fought for women's right to vote. Keep going back further......people didn't just start getting knowledge or decide to become activists when the internet was intented.

Most older people didn't learn the truth cuz there was very little truth or opposition to the MSM news Until the internet came to be.

without the internet i never would have learned the truth. Also without the internet and the things ive learned on it regarding diet & nutrition I would be DEAD!
