New submitter janit writes that social benefits to Finnish citizens living outside of Finland have in recent days been the cause of controversy, and links to an article which suggests just how much of a controversy:

A politician from the True Finns Party, Pasi Mäenranta, is also worried about the abuse of the benefits. He published a post on Facebook, where he suggests that all Finnish citizens leaving the country be embedded with an identification chip.

Sounds like a parallel system might be a popular idea with some U.S. presidential candidates, too.

Is it becoming obvious yet that politicians truly believe we are the Property of the State?

I live in Estonia, and I just hope they don't start to replicate so called Scandinavian model before Scandinavian model as we know it went to the inevitable bust.

Lol: "Mäenranta is not worried about this being a violation of privacy, since people are already willingly tracked with smartphones, Google or Facebook." I wonder if he would apply this same logic to someone breaking into his home to film him 24/7, or sticking an electronic bracelet on him. He surrendered his privacy when he ran for office, right?

This is why immigration and welfare = disaster. Well, welfare and anything. You're paying ppl to sit on their ass and watch TV, or you're paying them to join ISIS, or you're paying them to pickpocket, whatever stupid unproductive thing you encourage through welfare.
