TACO? Trump Announces He’s Backing Off August 1 Tariff Deadline With Mexico
President Donald Trump announced via Truth Social that he is delaying the imposition of new tariffs on Mexico just hours before a self-imposed August 1 deadline, citing a “very successful” call with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum.

The decision marks a notable retreat from Trump’s previous pledge not to extend negotiations without a formal agreement—yet another instance fueling the emerging Wall Street adage, “TACO,” shorthand for “Trump Always Chickens Out.”

Earlier this month, Trump warned there would be “no extensions, no excuses,” vowing to impose steep new tariffs on Mexican goods if a new trade deal was not finalized by August 1. “We’ve made too many empty threats in the past,” he told supporters at a July 12 rally in Phoenix. “Not this time.”

Yet on the eve of the deadline in a Thursday morning post, Trump announced a 90-day extension under existing terms — deferring punitive new tariffs while negotiations continue. Under the rolled-over agreement, Mexico will continue paying a 25% tariff on most exports into the United States, and a 50% levy on industrial metals.

Dollar rises against peers after Trump's calmer rhetoric de-escalates trade tensions

NEW YORK/LONDON, Oct 13 (Reuters) - The dollar edged higher against major peers on Monday, after a change in rhetoric from U.S. President Donald Trump lowered the temperature of simmering trade tensions with China, while political developments in France and Japan undermined the euro and the yen.

The U.S. dollar strengthened 0.78% to 0.805 against the Swiss franc after losing ground in the previous session after Trump announced 100% tariffs on China.

The broadside revived bad memories of Trump's Liberation Day rollout of sweeping tariffs in April and sparked a selloff in stocks and cryptocurrencies on Friday.

"It's kind of a repeat of what happened after Liberation Day," said Eugene Epstein, head of trading and structured products at Moneycorp in New Jersey.

"Traditionally, the U.S. dollar strengthens when there's any kind of risk off or any kind of stress across asset classes or markets and, like Liberation Day, the opposite happened because of trade tensions between the U.S. and fellow trade partners in this case, China. Any time something like that comes up people actually sell the U.S. dollar," Epstein said.

Yes I do eat a lot of deer , turkey , quail , dove , duck , woodcock , snipe , pheasant , geese, bluegill , crappie , pumpkinseed sunfish, smallmouth , but I did buy a beef chuck roast last week and almost went to pick up a few ribeyes today

Yes I do eat a lot of ... snipe
Ahh, yes. I remember my first snipe hunt well. Burlap bag, flashlight, kazoo, middle of the night. It's an art to get that mating call just right on the kazoo.

BREAKING: President Trump has just signed an executive order to ELIMINATE his other executive order to IMPLEMENT tariffs that would bring DOWN food prices that actually brought UP food prices, as voters reminded him that DOWN was in fact the direction food prices were supposed to go…

THREAD:

I think the 2k was because of all the articles put out saying it would cost avg families 2k

But also don't forget he doubled down that other countries pay the tariffs but him lowering them will make the cost go down some how. Lmao

Schrödinger's Tariifs - they both raise and lower the price to the consumer, remaining in both states until observed. Trump's theory of quantum economics.

The best way to beat the socialists is to implement more socialism before they do.

- create more generational debt instruments!
- impose tariffs - then rescind them and claim credit for making things cheaper!
- more & bigger subsidies for Big Pharma! #MakeAmericaGreatPharmaceuticalCompaniesRicherAgain

So much #Winning!! A blizzard - a BLIZZARD! - of #Winning!

REAKING: President Trump is set to fire off a BLIZZARD of economic policy announcements to make life cheaper for Americans. He's going all-in on affordability.

"New efforts to address higher MORTGAGE rates"

"Reducing tariffs on a range of food and agricultural products"

"More deals with pharma companies to make prescription drugs cheaper"

This is HUGE!
