I got into it a little with a few rabid feminists today, in which they advocated for Equal Work for Equal Pay.

Oh, they can be SO much fun... for a minute or two as you toy with them and their "logic". Then they get really boring really quickly.

They said that it was a violation of their Liberty to be discriminated against by not being guaranteed equal wages to men.

They generally ARE paid equally with men on a rate-basis. On average, however, they tend to work fewer hours. What they appear to demand is equal pay for less time worked, which naturally translates directly into more pay for less work. This is why they are insane and should be sent to a nunnery or euthanized. Such profound stupidity has simply GOT to be agony.

I first attempted to point out the "myth" of the wage gap. They were unconvinced. Whatever...

Well no, it's not "whatever". Did you fail in your reason, or were they simply that wanting for intelligence or personal integrity?

So I explained the following concepts:

Positive Rights vs Negative Rights

Freedom of Association

Freedom of Contract

Property Rights

The parable from Jesus about the farmer, workers, and the wages.

The Free Market

Social Change versus Government Coercion

Are you copulating stupid? You don't explain things like this to people like that. They have no interest in reason and fact. NONE. They want what they want and will believe and accept only that which reinforces their desires and the agenda for satisfaction. You are attempting to use reason and fact with people who are devils in the flesh, corrupt as vampires. There is no "explaining" these things to monsters like that. You are beating your head against a reinforced concrete wall 100 miles thick, expecting your brow to break it down. Get real.

They were absolutely opposed to all of the above because:

If you insist on wasting your time, start with charging them with proving their unsupported assertion "it only works in theory". There are several approaches one can take in the effort to pile-drive such unattractive women into the dirt, up to their bloodshot eyes.

To make a long argument short. I remained calm and explained principle, they got emotional and tried to shame me. How would you deal with someone who sees rights as a "group" thing instead of an "individual" thing?

I'd ignore them. They don't merit my time or consideration. I'd tell them to believe whatever it is that makes them happy and to have a nice day. I've got far better things to do than argue with corrupt idiots, like setting myself on fire with napalm.

I think the fact they they didn't believe your evidence against the wage gap BS was enough to end the conversation right there. If they can't acknowledge facts, they're not worth arguing.

Saying what we were all thinking. No matter how many times I read that post, I still can't stop laughing haha. I guess I didn't realize that this is a real job/hobby in the world. I don't mean to be rude, but but it definitely is out of the norm

You have to realize when you have these type of conversations, the person is going to go to say what they believe and will put up the best argument they can. Then they will go home and they might start thinking about it more, especially if they were listening to the good points you were making.

They may never be convinced, but you may have planted the seeds in one or more of them and over time they may see the light.. but it will take some more learning on their part.

there are even LESS in the HVAC/R field. what are we doing wrong? it is NOT like it does not pay well...

From here it seems that many women want to work at the apex of the trades or on the bottom rungs but it is odd to see them in the middle of the pack doing service work and the like. I'm sure there are some though.....

my point was, it is foolish to claim discrimination where female workers DO NOT EXIST! of course they can do the work.
they chose not to. thereby cutting themselves out of many high paying fields. this skews their numbers lower.

in days past, I would joke and say, that is why we put the machines up on roofs and let spiders get in them...
to stop the girls from taking our jobs!

the truth, as you and I know. is that we do it so they do not have to.

Were you arguing with 2nd or 3rd wave feminists? That is important. "Rabid" sounds 3rd wave.

You were completely wasting your time if it was 3rd wavers. Free speech means nothing to them and they are more than happy to discard all individual rights in order to maximize female domination over men.

If it was 2nd wave, they at least have some views that are in line with the spirit of libertarianism, but it is rare to see these people these days, since most of them integrated themselves with 3rd wave feminists, due to convenience and a nasty lack of integrity. I have personally been able to make some convincing arguments to some 2nd wave feminists, although I doubt they would ever entirely be persuaded to the tenets of liberty. 3rd wave however.. forget it.. more progress can be made using telepathy to communicate with a wall.

female musicians. My girlfriend dissagrees, i used a quote from MLK in our debate "that inequality anywhere is inequality everywhere" to express my unbiasessness but we ended our disscusion without an agreement. Anyone have thoughts t9 share on this case?

The argument that puts the lie to the accusation of unequal pay is that if somebody wanted to vanquish the competition, all they would have to do would be to hire women at lower salaries. They would always hold the competitive advantage. The only possible rebuttal to that argument would be to claim a conspiracy theory so vast and encompassing that all business owners—male and female—would need to be in cahoots to keep women down.

Music is first in a band- the best players w/o any "tude" are the ones to keep- I don't care if they're kangaroos.
