FEE: "Choose: Diversity or the Welfare State," by Jeffrey Tucker

We do it even better. Migrants to Germany can claim they have children living in their home countries and get welfare to support them. Of course it's scammed hugely as well.

What other system is better than democracy?

Look, erowe is too busy making breakfast for all the diseased Somalian refugees he's generously housing, so I'll answer.

Look, first off it depends how you define and think of democracy, right? If you define it juuust the right way, then you can do what L. Neil Smith did and have "hyper-democracy" equal "libertarian ideal political arrangement." Democracy has a great PR agent and is associated with such unmitigatedly warm, happy, wholesome feelings that maybe this is our best tactic. For branding.

Nah. Forget Democracy. Democracy is junk. Democracy = mob rule. Lousy idea. Just how catastrophic will depend upon what class of mob you have. In Anglo countries, we had a pretty good mob during our democratic period, so it was almost halfway sane and did not leave the countries in ruin. Most other places, it destroyed and was totally insane. Take, for example: Revolutionary France. Take also: Rhodesia cum Zimbabwe.

I can think of several better systems. Feudalism, for instance, was awesome and would be 1,000 times better. Monarchy, also, is a highly successful, free, and competitive framework. Feudalism even more-so, though. Other off-the-beaten-path options include kritarchy, patriarchy (Roman-style), and all the speculative libertarian visions: anarcho-capitalism, voluntary cities, neocameralism, propriety states, and other decentralized or patchwork-style polity arrangements.

Democracy, while it has great branding for now and a very favorable customer impression for now, is on the way out. It will eventually be associated with and incurably tarnished by all it's horrific crimes and disastrous failures. The truth will out. Ditch it now, or go down with it.
