Federal government blocks Dakota Access oil pipeline route

Sounds like they were going to supply them with an upgraded water supply:

That a very well written piece. too well written. Seems more like a team of lawyers wrote that, not just some owner of an entertainment company. I don't know the whole story, but it wouldn't surprise me if there were some missing facts from all that info. I bet scott gates doesn't even exist in real life.

But anyways. Back to your comment. Ever seen this documentary about how companies "help" people by "upgrading" their water systems. I can save you hour and a half right now and tell you that is complete bullshit.

This is a head fake. Once the protesters leave the line will continue and the company will just pay the fines. This line WILL be built on it's current path according to ETP.

As stated all along, ETP and SXL are fully committed to ensuring that this vital project is brought to completion and fully expect to complete construction of the pipeline without any additional rerouting in and around Lake Oahe. Nothing this Administration has done today changes that in any way.

Corps spokeswoman Moira Kelley said in a news release Sunday
that the administration will not allow the four-state, $3.8 billion pipeline
to be built under Lake Oahe,
a Missouri River reservoir where construction had been on hold.

From the Bakkens, I am still not seeing that.

Don't know where the Bakkens is but it's mighty hard for me to believe that the pipeline can't be re-routed somewhere. If they don't want it going west they can route it north or south and around the offending area. If there's absolutely NO other route (hard to believe) then I guess they could always use tankers and go over the road... (with all the additional issues trucking poses)...

As Dakota Celebrates, Trump Advisors Propose Privatizing Oil-Rich Indian Reservations

Having confirmed Trump's support for the pipeline (not to do with his investments), Reuters reports a Trump advisory group proposes the politically explosive idea of putting oil-rich Indian reservation lands into private ownership.

Timing is interesting so close to transition of power, could this be Obama administration's revenge for Trump insulting Obama by inviting foreign leader who had cursed at Obama?

Nah. Just a delay for the inevitable.

In two weeks when everyone goes home, construction will continue.

Still have to cross the Missouri some place, right?

90% of the pipeline is completed with 99% of the Dakota portion done.

EPA will do a review and decide that is gonna be the best location as there are already electrical/power grid and natural gas at that locatio0n (?)

Pipeline is getting close to the Des Moines River now and construction moves on in Iowa, although the group fighting it has an Iowa court hearing today I believe.

I don't understand what the big deal is. They have plenty of funds to re-route the pipeline around the disputed area. The longer they put off the plans the longer until it's completed...

You don't understand cost efficiency? Why should they spend 10 billion to accomplish the same thing 10 million will? That's the very definition of malinvestment.

They're not going to. If anything they will just continue on and then pay whatever fines are levied by the Corps for not conducting an full Environmental Impact statement.
