Yes it does, he's making an issue of them playing politics with policy. That doesn't jive with the fact that Trump is demanding that they immediately lower interest rates.

LOLIf Trump eliminates the Fed without Bait and Switch replacing it with something else before this 4 year term is over, I will give @Swordsmyth kudos.
If Trump doesn't eliminate the Fed and/or Bait and Switch replace it with something else before this 4 year term is over, @Swordsmyth will give me $100 in gold and/or silver.
Is it a deal, @Swordsmyth ?
Step right up, who else wants in on this?
LOL
Nice sucker bet you offer there.
I don't gamble, but even if I did I would not take a bag of hot air on your side against solid money on mine.
Economy is pretty fragile rite now I surmise . Lowering interest rate a bit would increase ousing and auto sales and keep some growt. Not sure if it appens but interesting timesThat doesn't jive with the fact that Trump is demanding that they immediately lower interest rates.

He's making an issue of it by doing it himself.Yes it does, he's making an issue of them playing politics with policy.
Sure it would. Just like always. This is what every president wants the Fed to do, prop up the GDP until the next guy is in office and let them deal with the resulting inflation.Economy is pretty fragile rite now I surmise . Yes, you can. He's making an issue of it by doing it himself.
You can't want to eliminate the Federal Reserve and at the same time demand that the Federal Reserve devalue our currency even more than it has already done.
Are you saying he's just pretending to want to do the wrong thing in order to demonstrate that it's wrong?Yes, you can.
You set up the argument that nobody can be trusted with the power.
"We can't have unelected 'independent' bureaucrats playing politics and people object to elected politicians using it to play politics, so let's just get rid of it and go back to sound money."
Lower interest rates would keep more people employed and help create more jobs. Are you saying he's just pretending to want to do the wrong thing in order to demonstrate that it's wrong?
I get that that's the reason. But you can't be for that at the same time as being for getting rid of the Fed and forcing us to take our medicine now rather than later. It's one or the other. In Trump's case, we know his choice, it's keep the Fed and lower interest rates.Lower interest rates would keep more people employed and help create more jobs.
He is still president and his ability to lead disappears if jobs start to disappear.
People will tolerate the lefts crazy stories but when they are jobless and hungry the pitchforks come out.
He doesn't have authority as president to end the fed. He can want it as much as anyone here wants it.I get that that's the reason. He doesn't unilaterally. But he has more power to advance that agenda than any other single person. He is the most powerful single legislator in the nation, and the world. My point is, he doesn't want to. His agenda is the opposite of that.He doesn't have authority as president to end the fed. He can want it as much as anyone here wants it.
The fed reports to congress. It's a congressional mandate we don't have a dictatorship.
He doesn't have authority to lower interest rates either. He can try to influence the fed to do it though.
What authority he does have and his role in the executive and what president's are known for is jobs.
How many real jobs can he create which increases employment and causes employers to raise people's wages to compete for labor.
People got real raises under Trump's first administration. Small businesses opened up where they had been empty for years and people could get jobs.
Small business creates the lions share of jobs in our country. They need lower interest rates to keep their doors open.

No actually I just remember Ron Paul when he ran for president he was honest about in in 2011.Looks like someone's drank the kool aid![]()
No the only people who have that power are the people. The congress has power of the purse we have separation of powers. He doesn't unilaterally. But he has more power to advance that agenda than any other single person. He is the most powerful single legislator in the nation, and the world. My point is, he doesn't want to. He said you know, I wouldn't have the authority to end the fed.
He said he would end these forever wars to fix the economy and help balance the budgets.
Trump got elected and ended the war in Afghanistan. He made a peace deal with them.
I learned how interest rates and fed policy influences global markets from Ron Paul. No, I agree with you that Trump doesn't have the authority to end the fed. He can certainly try to undermine it, but end it? No.
My Kool Aid reference was referring to you thinking that small businesses benefit from the Fed's activities in any way. Of course, if you still believe that after 10 years on this forum, there's nothing I can say to change your mind, and there's nothing you can say to change mine![]()
