FBI investigating reports of large drones flying in New Jersey, seeks public’s help

By BRUCE SHIPKOWSKI
December 4, 2024

The FBI is investigating reports about several mysterious nighttime drone flights that have recently occurred across central New Jersey and has asked the public for help.

Witnesses have spotted a cluster of what appears to be drones — larger than those typically used by hobbyists — as well as a possible fixed-wing aircraft flying in several areas along the Raritan River since Nov. 18. It’s not clear why the flights happened or who was flying the devices, but federal and state officials stress that there currently is no known threat to public safety.

The flights have raised questions in part because they took place near the Picatinny Arsenal, a U.S. military research and manufacturing facility, and over President-elect Donald Trump’s golf course in Bedminster. The FBI asks that residents share any videos or photos they may have of the flights, along with any other relevant information.

This has also been going on at various US military bases over the past year, such as in Indiana and Virginia, and more recently at several US bases in the UK. As far as has been reported none have been shot down. Aliens maybe? :toady:

They've haven't gone away.

Unidentified Drones Light Up New Jersey’s Skies, Baffling Residents
People across the state have reported seeing scores of large, low-flying objects in recent weeks. Officials haven’t said where they’re coming from, or why they’re here.

Brightly lit against a dark night sky, the low-flying object wasn’t a star, and it wasn’t moving like a plane or a helicopter.

Kat Dunbar spotted the strange object early one night several weeks ago while driving home with her children, and she was stumped.

“I was like, ‘What is that? Is that a U.F.O.?’” said Ms. Dunbar, a 37-year-old acupuncturist and mother of three. “And we watched it the whole way home.”

Then, she said, she thought nothing more about it. Until earlier this week, when similarly bright, large and buzzing objects began flying low over her home in Bedminster, N.J.

They were drones, she realized. And since then, she said, they have been back every night. Usually she and her husband, Nick Dunbar, see the first drone not long after sunset. Then they keep coming, one after another: sometimes five or more, following the same flight path.

“In the last week, it became a little bit of a menacing and, like, creepy thing,” Ms. Dunbar said.

North Jersey mayors demand action from NJ, feds on flurry of drone sightings

Megan Burrow
Dec. 8, 2024

A group of Morris County mayors and other local elected officials are demanding answers and action by authorities concerning the multiple sightings of drones in North Jersey in recent weeks.

A letter signed by 19 elected officials requests assistance from law enforcement agencies, the Federal Aviation Administration, the Department of Homeland Security and the New Jersey State Police. The letter says those agencies have taken “a reactive instead of proactive approach” to the issue.

The mysterious drone sightings began in Morris County just before Thanksgiving, and they have since been reported in Sussex, Somerset and Warren counties and other areas in North Jersey.

On Thursday, Gov. Phil Murphy said he had convened a briefing with Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, senior officials from the Department of Homeland Security, the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness, and New Jersey State Police to discuss the sightings.

Members of New Jersey's congressional delegation also participated in the meeting.

Well, good!

God preserve us from "proactive" government agencies.

Of course, there's the question of whether any of those agencies might be the ones behind the situation in the first place.

If so, then it appears they are already being "proactive" ...

FBI's like, sure... we'll investigate these ... mysterious.... drones

FBI to frustrated Congress: 'We just don't know' who is behind mystery drone flights in NJ

As reports of mysterious drone flights continue in New Jersey, local officials have expressed "pure frustration" about the lack of updates from the FBI and other federal agencies about their investigations.

In Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, some members of Congress were equally frustrated by an FBI official who repeatedly told them the Bureau had not yet identified an individual or group that may be responsible for the deluge of drone sightings that have gained a national spotlight while fraying nerves in the Garden State.

At the hearing, U.S. Rep. Tony Gonzalez (R-Texas), asked "You're telling me we don't know what the hell these drones in New Jersey are?"

Robert Wheeler Jr., assistant director of the Critical Incident Response Group for the FBI, replied, "That's correct."

"That's crazy," Gonzalez replied. "That's madness."

Wheeler, along with representatives of the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol and the Department of Justice, were called to testify before the Department of Homeland Security's subcommittees on Counterterrorism, Law Enforcement and Intelligence, and Transportation and Maritime Security.

They're coming from the ocean maybe?

Rep. Chris Smith, the longest-tenured member of Congress from New Jersey, said he was on the beach Monday at Island Beach State Park with Ocean County Sheriff Michael Mastronardy.

"One of his officers two nights ago saw 50 drones come in off the ocean, right there," Smith said. "We had a number of other people there including a commanding officer from the Coast Guard who said one of their 47-foot lifeboats was followed by between 12 and 30 of these drones, right behind them."

It's being blamed on Iran. Convenient.

I haven't really seen anyone talking about that so where have you come across it? It definitely seems like a possibility though considering their relationship with us and the advancement of their drone program. I'm not ruling out aliens either at this point.

Neocons on Fox News were hyperventilating about it earlier today.

Yep, just came across it. A congressman says he got the information from "high sources".

Mystery NJ drones are coming from Iranian mothership offshore, congressman suggests: ‘Should be shot down’

By Alex Oliveira
Dec. 11, 2024

A New Jersey congressman suggested that the mystery drones over the Garden State are Iranian, and they’re coming from a mothership parked off the East Coast.

Rep. Jeff Van Drew, a Republican, said the drones “very possibly could be” from Iran, citing confidential sources during an appearance on Fox News Wednesday morning.

“These drones should be shot down,” he said, adding that “the military is on full alert with this.”

He did not reveal where he got the information. Van Drew, whose district includes most of the Jersey Shore, sits on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.

“I’m going to tell you the real deal. Iran launched a mothership that contains these drones,” Van Drew said. “It’s off the East Coast of the United States of America. They’ve launched drones.”

“These are from high sources, I don’t say this lightly,” he added, categorically ruling out that the drones were being flown by hobbyists or the US government itself.

One story had a police chopper hovering above one of the drones, but it was called back because supervisors were nervous there would be a collision.

Seems to me they could drop a heavy net over these drones to bring them down.

There is no doubt these drones are meant to be seen, considering the bright lights.

I’ve seen them for years

Gov Murphy is such a predator & piece of shit he will not tell citizens the truth (Gov surveillance military security

Since then, sightings have increased, as some have described the drones as approximately 6 feet wide with red and white lights, but nobody knows where they are from or who owns them."
