Former President Donald Trump keeps gaining ground in the Republican presidential nomination contest, as fewer than one third of GOP primary voters now back all his rivals combined, according to the latest Fox News survey.

Trump's support stands at 69% in the primary race. That's up 7 points since November and fully 26 points since February.

I've lived in New Hampshire over 20 years now, and maybe this polling number is why something is happening that I just noticed as being very strange.

Here it is one month away from the GOP primary in what may be the most hotly contested and important election in the nation's history and in any normal year, even without that, there would be lawn signs and banners and flag wavers on corners everywhere, for every single candidate you could think of.

I was out driving around today and it hit me...there is hardly any of that this year, I mean, almost none.

In my little town, in a normal first primary presidential election year, every third home would have a banner or lawn sign or something.

I saw a few large Trump banners, maybe three or four, from die hard Trump partisans, a couple I know personally, and maybe a total of five or six for Vivek, Scott(?), and DeSantis.

I saw not a single Christie or Haley sign.

Weird...

I think that there has been a chilling effect that makes people a bit nervous about putting Trump signs in front of their own homes.

deSantos and Stikki Nikki are uninspiring, overt operatives of The System.

That's why they will "win".

Things are so polarized election signs all look like lightning rods to anyone with a lick of sense.

Also, you might as well include Trump in that. RFKJr was inspiring people, until he shot himself in the foot. Ramaswamy was, too, until someone let him go into the debate with a tablet and a crayon, and he went all high school with a homemade sign and shot himself in the foot.

Nobody's inspired. There may be people who still want their Trumpy Bear back because they're children who can't get over having their candy taken away, but that's not the same thing as inspiration. Nobody's inspiring anyone.

what message is that , the one that Abraham Lincoln is a hero or something else

Not putting too much faith in a litmus test is one thing. Ignoring a dozen litmus tests is something else. The devil keeps popping up in his details.

hard to picture 3 percent of population know christie and want to vote for him or 1 persent know who hutchinson is

The best thing that happened in this primary is DeSantis exposure as just another Deep State product.

I'm not sure I'd categorized him that way, but he does seem overly eager to please them.

Massie sees something in DeSantis, which is why I'll give him some benefit of the doubt... At some point though, you have to be willing to spit in the face of the donors and Ron D hasn't shown that willingness.

I saw something in him when he talked about Calvin Coolidge during the debate. But, yeah, I'm still not sure what that was that I saw.

Well, the fact that he consistently fills multi thousand seat venues in a blue state with less than 1.5 million people in it, lends credibility to your statement.

The devil keeps popping up in his details because this particular litmus test is a good one.

Even I, who couldn't stand most of Trump's policies or bombast, find myself rooting for him. I think the never-Trumpers underestimate the appeal. It's not even 100% for Trump, as much as it is that they see how vindictive the elitists are and they have Trump as a target, so they want him to beat them.

But seriously, unless there's an emergency fix to all the voting rule changes, I think they can make the outcome whatever they want it to be. Enjoy your holidays while you can because unfortunately, I'm not sure we can make it to next Christmas without the bullets flying.

Exactly my point. They have Trump as their ostensible, trumped-up target, and people want to beat them. I don't even think people believe the old fart will deliver them from the clutches of anyone or anything. I think they're voting for him for the same reason the anti-abortion crowd voted for H.W. in '92, after he said that he wanted Jenna Bush to be able to have all the abortions she wants. They know they won't get what they want and need, but they intend to send a message. It's basically that last act of defiance.

That is exactly where I am at in this cycle.
