At 16:08 they talk about Gov. Wes Moore issuing a pardon to people convicted of marijuana possession. This is good news on the surface level.
I hate to rain on the parade, but it has been a miscarriage of justice that a lot of real crime was in the past charged as a drug crime. It was the path of least resistance. Like charging Al Capone with tax issues. People who were suspected of other crimes ended up charged, or pleaded down to, a marijuana crime. Hopefully there will be some prudence, caution and due process used to determine who to pardon, but that would be uncommon and probably too much to ask.
Daniel and Ron wonder if Gov. Wes Moore has a "libertarian streak". I wouldn't hold my breath. There are other, common political reasons for mass releases and pardons.
It's pretty clear that Moore is all about leftist causes, so some form of woke social-racial justice is much more likely than any libertarian instinct.
