Yeah I'm not sure what that guy is talking about. 99% of libertarians I know were against the Iraq war from the start and those who did support it early on now want us out. I've also never heard of him until this article so he clearly isnt very active in any libertarian movement or within the LP

Randy Barnett is, apparently aside from war issues, genuinely libertarian, has written many great libertarian legal books and articles and defended the medical necessity defense for use of marijuana.

What makes his article all the more perplexing is the fact that he runs a website, http://www.lysanderspooner.org, dedicated to the works of the great 19th Century Individualist Anarchist, Lysander Spooner.

Randy Barnett is not a fake libertarian. He is a real libertarian. He may disagree with Ron Paul on foreign policy, but that does not make him a fake. Unlike some blowhards (Dondero), Barnett gets along very well with libertarians who disagree with him. His recent article was quite gracious to Dr. Paul.

We need to be mature enough to allow disagreements. We must argue the issue, not the man. Getting our panties in a twist just because someone doesn't agree with us 100% is a sign of gross imaturity. Let's not go down that dark road and end up like DailyKos.

I guess he's one of those neo-libertarians that likes war. I don't understand how that's compatible with libertarian goals or philosophy, but eh.
