Facebook May Lose 80% of Its User Base by 2017

What I put in bold is all I talk about on Facebook. Right or wrong, I have lost my fear of "Big Brother" and don't plan on ever getting it back. I would rather be dead than to fear them.

Go for it.

I have received different counsel and will go with that.

I can't "TALK to each other in person" a 1000 miles away.

Don't like FB? Don't use it.

Sure you can, use skype or facetime. That is about as person to person as you will get being 1000 miles away.

As much as I dislike Facebook Inc., I am also afraid of who may replace them. I love Google Inc.'s services, (seach, YouTube, Drive, Chrome, etc.) but I don't want them to monopolize the internet with Google+.

The fad will just change to some other social media Facebook like competitor. There is allot of money out there, with the right marketing and better UI, no doubt Facebook will drop like myspace.

I suspect the site that will take Facebook down will be big on privacy and vanishing user historical data. Google+ is not going anywhere and believe Google will begin to lose search marketshare by then.

Not a question of "fearing" them.

It's a question of enabling our oppressors because there is something they offer that you like.

It's the flying argument all over again.

You want to, or are stuck, using Farcebook, fine, own it and admit it.

Don't try to justify it by painting those in opposition as some fear stricken nervous Nellies.

Because it is being used against us, whether you want to admit it or not.

somebody should just make a new facebook that does not comply with any government agency without a court order, Kim Dotcom could make it.

Good.

100%? Even better.

It will only happen if people find a way to communicate without the need for Facebook. IE TALKING to each other in person.

Because that is possible to do with family 1000+ miles away. Yup.

Facebook is a great tool for keeping in touch with people. Don't overshare and there's no harm done.

I can do the same thing with facebook. And share my photos, political happenings, etc.

Again: don't overshare and no harm is done. The same goes for ANY written or digital (IE, permanent) form of communication, including skype and facetime, which are just as monitored.

The next generation of idiots will keep it alive ... Their indoctrination schedule will demand it !

Who will they lose it to, Google Plus? I see them plateauing, and slightly declining, but 80% drop off in 3 years is not likely unless there is something much better out there that becomes popular fast. I don't like facebook, but even if they did lose 80 percent of their current members, they would still be a huge social network, hardly coming to an end.

The teen youngsters are not using fb like the previous teens. Teens don't want to be on a social media site posting when they know their parents or even GRANDMOTHER are on! (When you were a kid, would you go to the mall/restaurant/hang out spot, where your grandmother or parents or friends parents will see everything you do?)

The current teens are using more instagram and Snapchat (FB tried to buy Snapchat for $3 billion and Snapchat gave them the finger). Snapchat is exploding they are estimated at $4 billion and rising, kids like the idea of the pictures disappearing fast (although this is a complete false sense of security, but maybe kids dont think things through). The snapchat growth is exploding while FB teen usage is dropping fast.

For dating/meeting/socializing people use Tinder instead of FB.

While I'm definitely no expert, I do have a TEEN and a TWEEN and I have seen their habits are different then the teens of just a few years ago. And I've read this as well besides my anecdotel observations.

Now I know of another app but I forgot the name, but it's a FB/Amazon combo. Actually I think it's still in beta or in the very beginning stages.

You say like, "hey I love Chicago Bulls" comment or some shit, and it will look at your profile and current location and let you know there's a Michael Jordan signed jersey on sale at the moment and asks you if you want to purchase, and there's a Bulls basketball bar down the road 3 miles from you. Or something shit like that. Basically everything you say and do is being used to market and sell to you. Kinda of like now, but in a much more direct and efficient way.

It's a fact TEENS are bored with FB and using different cool new apps on their phone. Old people use FB now. You geezers :p

Facebook's user base is getting older and thinking more about LinkedIn than taking pictures of coffee. Facebook has to find a way to appeal to teens but it seems that image/video type sites with just pictures and keywords (picture is worth a thousand words?) are starting to take over. But FB told the intelligence services and the corps a lot about the citizenry so FB has been a success for the police state and those that helped were compensated well.

At some point will you get sick of it, despite what facebook does. At some point it becomes annoying that whatever you do anywhere is known everywhere, immediately, with pictures, including your mom, sons, distant relatives, and old high school classmates.

I'm not on Facebook. I just look at their earnings report and stock price. Revenues have been soaring and the stock price reflects it.

Facebook may be supplanted by something better, but social networking ain't going away, folks.

One way or another, it's here to stay.

Testify. Fedbook is going down.

It was 'cool' back when only high school and college kids used it, now the older people have moved in and they're moving to other stuff like Instagram, Vine and Snapchat.
