Events on... (discuss date choice for March/Rally in Washington D.C.)

IMO, I could be wrong though, if it is on a weekend, most people won't
be going home to watch their TVs to see us marching and protesting.
But if it is a weekday event, there will be some "disruptions" to traffic,
or people passing by will be inquiring about what is going on, they could
themselves start the "buzz" going after they get to where ever it is they
were headed (office, place of business, seeing clients, etc.). There
will most likely be more TV coverage because it is a weekday and more
people out and about trying to conduct business ...

Just watch CNN or your local news on any weekend, it isn't as "active"
as a weekday one... do you not agree?

Very good point. Hmm....

We should unite with other groups, but only have our preselected libertarian and perhaps a few liberals who are on our side on foreign policy(Kucinich comes to mind, to speak on the topic of foreign interventions and impeachment)

Ron Paul could go on TV and publicly challenge all declared candidates(of any recognized party, including Gravel!) to an open and fairly moderated debate, hosted by the people of the united states, who could freely donate up to 5k to a PAC set up to fund the debates. questions would come unscreened, from the American people. The news media will think this is mighty provocative to challenge all comers to a debate...

day one could be foreign policy... and I DON'T mean Iraq... I mean intervention vs NON intervention..

day two could be economic policy

day 3 could be healthcare... fri, sat, sunday

This should be the day, right there! Celebrate 2 of the greatest thinkings of the last 300 years... Ron Paul and Thomas Edison... ingenuity and persistence will get us all through.

No, that was a joke: he invented the electric voting machine on that day--the bastard.

The day the Constitutional Convention Convened!:

A possible suggestion:
May 25 (a Sunday--the day before Memorial Day Holiday):
1787 - In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, delegates convene a Constitutional Convention to write a new Constitution for the United States. George Washington presides.

It's more than 90 days away. It's in the middle of a three day weekend, but not on a holiday. It's about the Constitution--about taking the first step in creating it. It's after the kids are out of college.

I couldn't really find any amazing dates in wikipedia. Anyone find birthdays?

Scratch that--I love skeet's idea for the June 21, 1788 U.S. Constitution goes into effect as New Hampshire is 9th to ratify.

Ratification of the Constitution.

A Constitution March on Sat., Jun 21, 2008!

get this movie!:

Someone (skeet) found this one: AWESOME:

June 21, 1788 U.S. Constitution goes into effect as New Hampshire is 9th to ratify

It's a saturday, just a bit over 4 months from now--so if it's not too late--that has to be it!

good luck everybody, going to bed, see you tomorrow and oh what a great day it will be :D

April 19th. Lexington and Concord day. The shot heard round the world. The first balltle, and the first victory of the American Revolution.

April 19th 1775 is a big big big date amongst the existing freedom movements. Those of us who had been fighting for us before Ron Paul ran for the nomination. We could easily get the Revolutionary War Vets Association in with us.

I think May 25th is the best date suggested so far. Thanks colecrowe! This would probably draw the largest crowd.

Of course, if we could bring that crowd during a weekday, that would probably bring even more media attention... which would carry over to the July 4th 3-day concert Ron Paul will be announcing next month. (well, I can have wishful thinking, can't I!) :)

Am I hearing correctly???

I apologize ahead of time for my tone but, what's this crap about school and work? Is this important to you or what? This isn't just some fun game. It's about the future of your country. I already quit a $50,000/year job to work on this campaign. And I'll be there whenever it is, and I'm taking my daughter out of school to join me.

It's time to put up!

And it's about the government STEALING 47% of every dollar you make. That's why April 15th is PERFECT.

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!”

This is the best date. I don't get out of school until June 9th, so this date should work for everyone. Weather, school, no holidays, etc.

I vote for June 21st.

Most everyone here has said that April is too soon. It's better to have more time to plan. And everyone is out of school by June.

June 21st is perfect, the day the constitution was LEGALIZED!

Sunday, May 25: the day before Memorial Day holiday (3 day weekend)

My top choices...

  1. May 25th
  2. April 15th

My reasoning for May 25th...
  • It's later, but not too late.
  • It's on a Sunday so we'd have the weekend to travel.
  • It's the day before Memorial Day holiday so it's a 3 day weekend.
  • The southern schools (and colleges) get out in early May so they'll already be out of school.
  • Student's on the East coast won't have as far to travel and may only need to miss one day of class (but probably not because of the holiday)
