Well, haven't you heard? They don't want to peak out too early. They still have a lot of money. There's going to be a big advertising blitz and they're going to take everyone by surprise. It's a secret strategy, you know...
But seriously, I've wondered many hours about all these blunders, and I've come to the conclusion that there are only a couple of possibilities:
They are either simply incompetent, or self-sabotaged themselves due to fear of success, or didn't want to win in the first place, or were being threatened, extorted or manipulated in some manner to commit these blunders to diminish their chances.
And then, the coup de grâce: A day or two before the Washington caucuses the campaign sent out an email in Ron's name that quoted Trotsky of all people and said that the chances for a brokered convention were "close to zero". Also, he finally ruled out an independent or third party run. Things have been going seriously downhill every since.
Stranger things have happened in the past, but it does look like they probably didn't want to win this time. Ron already risked his life by running in the first place so I don't believe he was threatened or would have given in to threats (unless they were against his family... who knows?)
Maybe the campaign is gearing up for a 2012 run? It's always tempting to believe that they have a secret ace up their sleeves, that they know something that we don't, and that they are about to implement a masterful plan that nobody would have ever thought of and that will lead us to victory.
This reminds me of the millions of Germans in WWII who patiently endured years of murderous bombardments until the very last day because Nazi propaganda led them to believe that a "secret weapon" (nuclear bomb) was about to be completed which, once unleashed, would change everything... but we all know how that ended.
