They're choosing between Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, and Rick Perry.

My guess is that they'll pick either Gingrich or Santorum. And then starting Monday, the Mitt Romney money machine will probably start running non-stop negative ads to try and knock that chosen candidate into the dirt. Next week is going to get crazy. My hope is that Mitt/Newt/Santorum obliterate each other with attack ads, and Ron Paul eeks out a surprise victory in SC.

More than 150 leaders in the conservative evangelical Christian community are getting together Friday and Saturday at a private ranch west of Houston in a last-ditch effort to derail Mitt Romney's march to the Republican nomination.

And one of those leaders is Richard Land of the Southern Baptist Convention. Of course, the only Southern Baptist in the race is Ron Paul. But no...can't have him! Frustrating!

The criteria is whoever hates gays and Muslims the most, and whoever wants to give the most of taxpayer’s money to the State of Israel.

And despite Ron Paul not receiving any love from these so-called "Evangelical leaders” in Iowa, he still was a close second in support from real life Evangelicals in the exit polls.

The message of peace and against the Orwellian state resonates with sincere Christians. Any self-apointed Christian “leader” who thinks a serial adulterer like Newt or a warmongering nutcase like Sanatarium are the best examples of Christians in the race have made themselves irrelevant. And both of these wackos are Catholic. Nothing against Catholics, but don’t a lot of these “Evangelicals” consider them somewhat of a deviant sect? Guess perpetual war and the police state is more crucial than issues of creed to them.

Let’s hope the hypocrites get behind Perry.

Why do they need to decide collectively, why not let every "leader" decide for himself. The same goes of course for their flock.

So, what happens when none of those guys are in the race by the time Texas and other south states are voting?

Seems short-sighted to pick one of those three.

If only they realized RP is the most pro-Israel candidate out there.

No, that's not the neocon definition of being pro-Israel, pro-Israel to them means America going to war against Israel's enemies especially Iran and Paul opposes that thus in their view he's anti-Israel.

They discuss supporting one candidate because they know they will have a better chance of success. That doesn't mean they will all agree. Don't underestimate the support for Ron Paul. He does have support among Evangelicals. If Doug Wead and other leaders who support Ron Paul are there, it will be an interesting meeting.

I just clicked on the link. Gary Bauer is there. Someone will need to oppose him and shut him up. I hope Wead is there.

This sounds more like operation discredit Christianity.
As a Christian, I just can't fathom how anyone could not see that Dr. Paul is the candidate for Christians. In a free society, Christianity would thrive. Yeah, let's put our support behind the thrice married Grinch.

I don't think hes a baptist. Hes a Lutheran who goes to a Presbyterian church, probably because there aren't enough Lutheran churches in the South.

I think pro-Israel requirement is masquerade for pro-war. And that war being where huge oil reserves exist (Iraq and Iran) so Big Oil Corps can control and profit from them.

Land is why I left the Baptist church long ago. Baptists claim to be independent minded, "self-governing", etc. The truth in action however is just the opposite. The current mind of the so called Christian church in this country is on the verge of confirming their psychopathology of human hate.

Not to mention the Military Industrial Complex. Big deal in SC and FL. They better git goin.

IMHO, Baptists spew legalism.

Do they know that Santorum used to think it was fine for states to decide their own abortion laws?
