He said current EU practices smacked of communist times when the Soviet Union controlled much of eastern Europe, including the Czech Republic and when dissent or even discussions were not tolerated.

"Not so long ago, in our part of Europe we lived in a political system that permitted no alternatives and therefore also no parliamentary opposition," said Klaus. "We learned the bitter lesson that with no opposition, there is no freedom."

He said the 27-nation bloc should concentrate on offering prosperity to Europeans, rather than closer political union, and scrap a stalled EU reform treaty that Irish voters have already rejected.

My prediction of the break down of the E.U. becuse of a rejection of a central government might be happing, or at less I can hope any way.

In many European countries, like Germany, Czech Republic, Italy and others, the republic is not presidentialist so the president has no real power. They are like constitutional monarchs. This guy cannot do anything. Not even prevent his own country from installing a US missile shield radar.

Klaus, Farage and others are called "far right", "neocons" and "anti-european". Bruxelle (our Washington) constantly uses fear against people who simply dare to challenge EU central power, but when they let people vote they lose (France, Netherlands...). That´s why they are trying to pass a European Constitution and other supranational laws through parliaments instead of referendums
