Esquire profile on Ron Paul will be in May issue - preview here

They imply all this stuff because they, like most of the voting public are CLUELESS. Its another baby step. Its about the message, and as usual, we as supporters kind of forget what the Dr feels and how he views this whole thing.

yeah but its hard to read all the blatant lies and twisting of free ideas on that giant chart. those "comandments" are shit. the entire goal of that is to make the constitution and its supporters look stupid by saying it says nothing about "disbaled pppl" in the constitution, or that hamilton wrote the constitution while jefferson was in france, or that obama is no more radical than bob dole. and clinton was our savior. and because jesus said be your brothers keeper obviously meant that the government should be our keeper by force and coercion rather than us voluntarily taking care of each other. the article was complementary to his character while downright mocking his pure views as stupid or cruel.

Oh I agree about the chart. Completely mocking the whole thing.

just makes my blood boil how ignorant and biased it is. they take someones beliefs and reduce them and twist them because they dont make sense to their simplistic undeveloped sense of reason, and then regurgitate them completely biased and full of labels. clearly as a libertarian i hate poor people, disabled people, children, education, "equality", and everything else that takes money away form my pot of gold (which is so dumb right, i mean who the hell thinks gold has value) since im automatically a hypocritical millionaire whos just being a scrooge. oh and im anti-jesus. and how the hell can they claim that ayn rand is the most important philosopher in washington???? what kind of shit is that. do they know anything about ayn rand?

true...

but GOP readers won't buy that, and progressives who are leaning towards Ron are going to have to consider his civil liberties and foreign policy views more important, at least at this stage.

I do dislike the chart.

Really? Saying the new deal policies made things worse is just "revisionism"? And the central bank is the reason our country became rich and prosperous?

Yeah, the reporter was dumb. Also, whether FDR's policies made the depression worse is determined more with economics than history.

According to the author, if Ron Paul had his way we will be a poorer country. It's very hard to think of a more ignorant statement.

All in all a good article, thanks to OP for sharing the link.

Of course there are some things in it that I don't agree with and think they got wrong, but I think they were pretty fair.

I think the article is nothing but good for Dr. Paul.

Pretty good, though the author decides to inject his own personal opinion into the article, which seems out of place.

But hey its an article about RP in Esquire. I sure didn't see that happening back in 2007. Progress!

Eh, not as bad as I expected. It's obviously coming from a left-wing viewpoint and highlights what their side views as "cool" about Ron Paul while dismissing his point of view.

The chart was an absolute piece of shit though.

Specs I skimmed the article then commented.... We can politely refute the inaccuracies in it, but lets positively respond to a generally positive article about Paul.

Are you saying you sent comments via email to the author? Because I couldn't find a place to post a comment on the blog itself. If you did, please give a link to it. I'd like to leave a comment there, too. Many inaccuracies to be refuted (politely, of course :)).

In all honestly, after rereading it, if he had just taken out the paragraph about "revisionist history," it wasn't that bad of an article. It still wasn't coming from a pro-liberty perspective but it also could have been much, much worse.

I'd have put this in general politics but I didn't want it to 'get lost' and drop off the page.

Here's a substantive introduction which actually gives you some flavor of his personality:

And here is the profile http://www.esquire.com/features/ron-paul-profile-0511

Mind you, the lead in language on the teaser suggesting Ron has 'been crazy so long he's starting to make sense' is a little irritating..

(Unfortunately, it discusses his philosophical view (e.g. NO food stamps) and doesn't distinguish that from his current political agenda. They are making him as radical a purist as they can, while at least giving him the respect of being sincere.)

... and how he could do a whole profile of Ron and still think he named Rand after Ayn Rand....(shakes head)

see.. there are plenty of good pictures of ron paul out there.. what's so hard? to the retarded msm tv and sites

I thought the spin on the chart was awful, so I didn't bother with it. It is simply snark and bad economics.
