Encouragement from my Cousin who lives in N.H. - read.

i posted this in another thread, but since somone out there is obviously trying to float this idea with us, let me be clear where many of us stand:
--------------
lol at this continuous VP talk.

Hey, all you establishment lurkers -- get it straight -- we will NOT accept Ron Paul as VP. Unacceptable. The VP is the media punching bag, the Dan Quayle, the Joe Biden... just no.

Ron Paul as President, with his choice of Vice President, or not at all. That's it. If you want the GOP to remain relevant, that's your only choice. If you chose to give this to Obama by picking anyone else, you will pay the price not only in this election, but in all future elections, and likely destroy this nation in the process.

People floating this ridiculous idea of a Paul/Romney ticket. Are you kidding? The last person we want next in line is an establishment stooge, for reasons too obvious to state out loud.

Ron Paul or not at all. We're winning this. Your grandchildren will thank us.

VP has (it shouldn't, but has) been been more powerful than some people might realize. Johnson, Bush, Cheney, really drove the policy of the administrations. If Paul steered Romney towards constitutionalism, I would be all for it. Wouldn't bet on it though. Just an interesting idea that probably will never happen. Much like the third party run.

I would be all for it if, on every policy issue, Romney told his advisors: "Let's ask our Constitutionalist!" ;)

Related to discussion: someone find that post earlier today about the conspiracy between Romney and Paul for the lulz

Ask and ye shall receive... Definitely my favorite post of the week (other than that new pic of Ron and Rand looking BOSS.)

Secretly, Ron and Mitt have been teaming up for years. Ron has agreed to educate the American people in the message of liberty to try and win them over and accept his positions. Mitt Romney, behind closed doors, is affiliated with the liberty movement and with Ron Paul. Mitt Romney has pledged that, if in office, will enact the same policies as a President Paul. But, out of the closed doors, Romney has said he will publicly hold the principle of "getting elected" above all else, accepting the position that if the message of liberty is the true message and what the people need, but is unpalatable to them, he will use their prejudices against them to get elected. This connection has been built over many, many years. His whole career as Governor was manufactured to make him appear as a moderate. Ladies and gentlemen, there are two radical libertarians on that debate stage, make no mistake about it. One, Ron Paul, holding liberty above all else, and the other, Mitt Romney, who holds the principle of getting elected above all else, and then once elected, will hold liberty above all else. We're finally about to beat the system and use it against itself. Victory, with Paul or Romney winning, will be the liberty movement's victory.

I'm full of shit but I think it is a cute conspiratorial story to go along with all these threads wondering why Paul and Romney rarely attack each other as much as the others.

Euh....I will ask my lawyers to read the constitution for me, afterwards I'll be able to respond ^^ (Dixit nutcase#1)

I like the idea of a short-term truce between Paul and Romney. Neither one really has much to lose from it. Romney doesn't really gain from attacking anyone at this point as there's no clear strong 2nd. There's very little overlap in the voter bases for each - Romney's is all based on unprincipled political calculation, and Paul's is all based on a principled defense of freedom. Romney wants the unprincipled supporters of Gingrich and Santorum while Paul wants the ones that haven't yet totally sold their souls to the Devil.

Only when the rest of them are gone is there any reason for them to head-to-head compete for the remaining persuadables.

I do not believe it is possible for someone to love Ron Paul and believe it “wouldn’t be terrible” if he was Romney’s VP. How can a Ron Paul supporter entertain such a 4-year curse on any of their elderly loved ones?

Rather than VP I think it is more likely that this "truce" may result in a prime time speech for Paul at the convention (should Romney be the nominee) and the assaurance that he won't be treated like a criminal when walking around on the floor like he was in 2008.

Why do we keep talking about this? You guys realize VP is a useless powerless job, right? Why would RP not retire and instead take a useless powerless job to schill for a statist?

Hey I'll take the media asking him this question over the 3rd party question anyday, it would be a step up the maturity curve of ridicule, Ron would at least formally be "part of the group".

Then Ron could answer, I don't want that job, I'd rather be Secretary of Restoring the Constitution!

I cannot imagine Dr. Paul becoming like Joe Biden. He could never be BP under Romney. It would be like burying himself alive.

These are her words when I messaged her on Facebook "how are things in N.H. looking for Ron Paul?"

Her response:

Everyone loves Ron!! All my friends and collegues are voting for him. According to the local news last night ( I watched the debate-very good!) RP got an "A", Huntsman got a "C" and Perry got a "F" Mitt was an "A" as well. Right now it looks like Mitt and Ron are neck and neck. I have a funny feeling if Mitt gets the bid maybe he will having RP as VP....Wouldn't be terrible!! We r all good-we miss you and think of you all!!

RON PAUL AS A VP?? bullshit. If that is the case i will not vote republican.

I still hold out some hope for a better than expected showing based on what my aunt told me at Christmas time. She said houses all over her entire area of NH had Ron Paul signs. She said she only saw Romney and Gingrich signs along the highways (where campaigns placed them). She voted for McCain last time and she said this time around RP is definitely her guy.

It's just anecdotal evidence, but it made me feel good about the progress being made. Thanks for sharing your response.

We owned the sign race in 2008, it didn't turn out by signs....sadly.

Maybe it´s a combo. VP for Rand, treasury sec for Ron. If they don´t like Mitts actions they simultaneously resign causing a major crisis for mitt almost being unrecoverable to run a succesfull re-election campaign. There is the true power of VP, the power of withdrawing support if it does not go the way you like.

I would stop supporting the gop and ron paul if rand was vp and ron as a cabinet position. I want to hear ron paul say this crap and if he does i am done with doing anything for the gop or ron. I want to know very soon so i can stop wasting my time in the gop.

Stop worrying about it, there is no per-arranged deal for this, there is simply a strategy to have all the others drop out and then it be a two man race. Is it the best strategy? I don't know. If romney gets too much steam he may coast to the finish.

i think if VP slot gives Ron Paul momentum to promote his ideas, Ron Paul will seriously consider it. never say never. Ron Paul is not an absolutist when answering the third party question, so i guess he won't say never to VP of Romney.

I still don't think anything of the sort per-arranged in any manner. Even if he may consider it.

Rand is the move. Romney / Rand could happen. The play would be for our votes.. plus it positions Rand for 2016 if the ticket loses.
