Ellis dredges up a meaningless vote from two years ago to slam Amash

But would you have voted against the "In God We Trust" motto in exchange for one of of Ellis' daughters?;)

Interestingly, the comment that was posted above mine is now gone, but mine is still there. The comment that was originally posted above mine criticized God and religion. So I guess Brian may be more offended by attacks on Christianity than by me saying that I'd like to date one of his daughters. :)

Nothing says being religious more than plastering it all over the place. Your acts used to define your religiosity, however, it seems in our decrepit society, merely the proclamation of such is sufficient to make one 'religious' or 'Christian'. These delusional people think merely by saying, or being fervent in their sayings, makes one 'good' in connotation. These people are some of the most evil beings on the planet - murdering, torturing, and enslaving by writ and justification. I wonder how many even realize how many of their own people they've massacred through their justifications. (But I digress...brown Christians in the Middle East don't exist)

As for the vote...meh. Justin voted correctly, but there is something to be said on having a vote about this at all. Should leave religion in the denomination (Church, whatever..), and something tells me Jesus would say the same.

I agree with you that their acts are what are important; not their vote on some little motto. But, I disagree with you about religion being left in the church, implying that it should not be in government at all.

The notion of a rigid separation between church and state has no basis in either the text of the Constitution or the writings of our Founding Fathers. On the contrary, our Founders' political views were strongly informed by their religious beliefs. Certainly the drafters of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, both replete with references to God, would be aghast at the federal government's hostility to religion. The establishment clause of the First Amendment was simply intended to forbid the creation of an official state church like the Church of England, not to drive religion out of public life. -- Ron Paul
