The role of religion in politics in Egypt will probably not be much different than it has been. Since 1971, and to a lesser degree earlier, there has been a mention of Sharia in the constition.

Article 22:
Islam is the Religion of the State. Arabic is its official language, and the principal source of legislation is Islamic Jurisprudence (Sharia).

The word principal or principles as it says in other translations has been a loose term.

Egypt is not a new Iran, they don't have the money to turn into a fullfledged theocracy. The role of religion in the draft constitution is similar to the earlier
constitution. It won't be a liberaldemocracy either.
