Easy for Ron to steal Gingrich and Santorum supporters. Just say he'd veto

Just say he would veto every unbalanced budget and every debt ceiling increase that comes to his desk. Why has he never said this? He should say it in every speech, in every debate, in every TV interview. It would show that Gingrich and Santorum are not for real. Or, in the highly unlikely scenario that Gingrich and Santorum say they will do the same, that just "moves the debate" which is what Ron is all about.

Ron, show all the Tea Partiers that Gingrich and Santorum are frauds. Say that you will veto every unbalanced budget and every increase in the debt ceiling. This means that Congress would have to get 2/3rds vote to increase the debt and to pass unbalanced budgets.

I'm starting to suspect that republican voters don't actually care about the debt except as a tool to bludgeon the democrats. They don't really understand it and they don't really think it will hurt us. They just like bitching about it.

I don't think you understand. This isn't going to change many people's minds, and it certainly won't have any even mentionable impact on the election outcomes. If the things that Ron HAS said hasn't convinced anyone, what makes you think this is the magic sentence that is going to earn him converts by the boatload?

Some people on this forum are just delusional. No one thing that Paul says is going to have any major impact on the election outcome.

Its become quite clear that the general electorate has no use for logic, critical thinking... It's sad really that our own citizens are so easily manipulated.. This is 100 pct proof that our education system is failing us.

Besides, if he said he'd veto every unbalanced budget, the others would just agree with him and say the same thing. Some of them, Santorum especially, would need to agree in a very carefully worded way to avoid looking like a hypocrite, but agree they would.

Things are going better than they did in 2008 and that's all that really matters to me. I'd love to see us win some states, but we're spreading the message and that's the most important part.

We need to transfer that local support of the message into winning local elections.

The Federal elections would be pointless if we elected good state reresentation... and in most cases you only need a few thousand votes to do that..

Its all about beating Obama. If Nancy Pelosi ran on the GOP ticket and people thought she could beat Obama, they'd vote for her. It would be funny if the stakes weren't so high.

If he said that it would be a lie because he is running on the statement that he would balance the budget in 3 years

His plan repudiates the debt owed to the Fed, which allows for that 3 year window. In all honesty, I'm hoping Ron will push much harder than the plan put out by the campaign; the first year is really the only year with any decent amount of cuts. Years 2, 3, and 4 just don't increase spending by as great an amount as currently occurs. There's just something wrong thinking that Ron Paul would be okay with the government collecting a record $3 trillion in tax revenue on his watch, which is what the plan predicts for year 4.

Taken all of that with Ron saying "the only year that counts is this year," with the context being budgeting... I think you see where I'm going with that.

Not going to make a difference, the 'people's issues' are only what the television tell them.

This is why I think it's extremely important we stick to No One But Paul. If we support the fake candidate against Obama nothing will change but the movement will be damaged. If the GOP throws up Romney as the nominee we want them to know we voted tremendously in favor of some third party candidate and cost Romney the race. Next time (2016) they'll have no choice but to nominate someone who preaches liberty. The worst possible outcome for this movement is someone like Romney becoming president. That means 8 years of no liberty movement candidate for president.

As much as I hate to agree with this post, he's right. Most of the people on these boards are living in a delusional, make-believe bubble where the general public can be persuaded to embrace the ideas of limited government. Folks, this behemoth took 100 years to setup. Do you honestly believe it can be taken down in one election cycle? These are the same people that elected Obama; these are the same people that elected Bush. Twice. The voting public has shown time and time again that when the stakes are high, their critical thinking skills are low. I also think that a good chunk of the posters here don't realize just how far the corruption in this government goes. To think they will let us just walk in and destroy everything they've spent hundreds of years putting into place is absurd.

I generally agree with this assessment. I still think there's a chance that people will wake up when exposed to liberty, and this is the first time RP has had any real exposure, so anything can happen. If not, well... secession is a viable option. I don't want to be old and gray by the time I get my liberties back.

Yes and most Republicans don't actually have "issues" as such, they just have a team loyalty to "R"
