Former Rep. Ron Paul said the law enforcement that swarmed around Boston in the days following the marathon bombings was scarier than the actual terrorist attack.

“The Boston bombing provided the opportunity for the government to turn what should have been a police investigation into a military-style occupation of an American city,” he said on the Lew Rockwell website, Politico reported. “This unprecedented move should frighten us as much or more than the attack itself.”

The terror attacks on April 15 in Boston killed three and injured 264.

Mr. Paul, a former libertarian political candidate who served in Congress as a member of the Republican Party, said the door-to-door searches police conducted in Watertown for the bombing suspects were particularly alarming.

They reminded of a “military coup in a far off banana republic,” he said, Politico reported. “Force lockdown of a city. Militarized police riding tanks in the streets. Door-to-door armed searches without warrant. Families thrown out of their homes at gunpoint to be searched without probable cause. Businesses forced to close. Transport shut down.”

Mr. Paul reminded the surviving suspect, 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, was ultimately discovered by a civilian, and not due to police crackdown, Politico reported.

“He was discovered by a private citizen, who then placed a call to the police,” he said. “And he was identified not by government surveillance cameras, but by private citizens who willingly shared their photographs with the police.”

I live in Boston and I can tell you that Ron Paul is correct. There were these big tank-like vehicles and armed men all over the city in the days after the bombings and, for what??? WE, the public, identified them. We, the public, found them. If they hadn't confined everyone to their homes that Friday, the gentleman who owns the boat that the younger guy was found in would probably have found him earlier. And what right did the feds have to order people out of their homes and search without warrants. I saw a video on Fox news where parents weren't even allowed to dress themselves, or their young children, before being ordered out on a cool evening. One mother was putting socks on her toddler as she was leaving her home, and another guy wasn't even allowed to put on shoes. Additionally, there are so many unanswered questions about the entire ordeal. Who were the armed guys on the roofs of the buildings near the marathon finish line on the day of the bombing? Who was the "naked guy" in handcuffs on the night the older brother was captured? Why did the officials shoot 200 rounds at the younger brother in the boat when he was unarmed? I can tell you that I did not feel safe with all of this military presence around- it was very disconcerting and un-American. The way this entire bombing event was handled- from the failure of intelligence to follow up on the older brother's activities, to the armed presence and gunfire by government officials, was just wrong. I am beginning to think that we, the people, can do things much better without all this government intervention. This was appalling.

This proves Ron Paul does not support the troops! 'merca!

The entire incident was shameful.

Of course, I have a lot of Chechen friends, so...

To be honest most people are thinking what Ron is saying here. It's one thing if the police there would have knocked on your door asking if everything is ok, but the police didn't do that, they told people to get out with their guns pointed at them, and telling them to keep their hands up. I believe Boston, or say New York, or other progressive type areas are the exception for police to have been able to do this. We will see what comes from this event, but so far from what I'm hearing, I'm liking the reaction from people that I'm hearing, they are hearing.

It's still on Drudge so I hit it a few times this morning. Over 800 comments, and a vast majority agree with him. That is surprising.

Can someone give me numbers?

How many citizens were under martial law?

Were there any incidents?

Were there any persons who told police/army (whoever it was): "You cant enter my property without warrant!" ?

Were any other arrests made? Refusing to cooperate, assault, disobeying...?

I am having a hard time believing that entire town just bowed down. Not single one stood their ground?

It wasn't all of Boston but it was about a million people, and there is talk on the internet that some did resist and were pulled out of their homes at gun point, but most went along with it. When there are 8 swat uniformed officers or camo dressed troops with full gear at your door, with thirty or so arranged along your street, how many are going to resist? There were 9,000 troops out, tanks, etc etc.

there are some pictures in this thread if you scroll down: http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showth...n-quot-Ron-Paul-Texas-Straight-Talk-4-29-2013 Or google image search 'boston martial law'

Okay, so now some of these people are coming out and complaining. Great. But what good are their words without any backup? Shouldn't they contact either the ACLU or an organization like the Rutherford Institute who defends people from these kinds of abuses? This MUST be done otherwise the powers that be will just continue to roll over more people the next time. Any Boston patriots on these forums? Is anything currently being discussed regarding this issue?

Of all the places in American history, BOSTON lead the charge against tyranny. The founders must be rolling over in their graves. Liberty minded people must join forces and put up a united front to push back and say WE THE PEOPLE WILL NOT TOLERATE THESE ABUSES. Government officials are there to protect our rights, not to trample all over them.

Lead the way Boston, like your rebel rousing ancestors did who fought back against tyranny so many years ago. ;)
