Dr. Ron Paul is making People Crazy
The news says that my only real choices for president are: the wife of an old president, a Muslim, a guy who put on the 2002 Olympics, and the most corrupt mayor New York has ever had. All of them are crooks, of course. Can we really expect someone to run for president who isn't a crook? In past elections, our only choice has been which crook we think will steal the most money for our particular cause.
Then I come on MySpace and everyone is talking about Dr. Ron Paul. He's a Congressman who isn't a crook. That confused me at first because I couldn't figure out why someone would want to be president if he weren't a crook. The job doesn't pay well enough to get shot at unless you're taking money under the table. Then I saw a picture of Dr. Paul and realized that he's old, like in his seventies. This guy is a crusader who wants to die for his country! He's going to get rid of all the scams presidents have been saving up for over a century, and he's going to make a lot of crooks in Congress and in the Lobby very angry. I think he knows he could get killed and he's okay with that. If I was old, I would probably like to go out doing something really great for my country too.
The thing is, his supporters are going a little crazy in the head. It's like they have this hope that the government could actually start obeying the law. I'm not talking about the laws that they make up; I mean the real law: the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and other Amendments. It would be great if they did because then people could have a little spending money and savings instead of living paycheck to paycheck, but aren't we resigned to our government getting worse and worse until it fails? Isn't it already too late to reverse the trend? Aren't there too many crooks, and isn't there too much debt to save our country? Haven't we gotten used to being victims, waiting for the end to come? Can we really hope to have a government that doesn't rip us off, or are these guys just crazy?
