DOW Thread for the day

I plan to start buying when the DJIA drops under 1000.

I think that this might be the most sound advice I have heard all day.

The day still is young however.....:o

If not, maybe there is just too much activity.

I've never had any problems with this site before. Cancellations of open orders go right through. But because this cancellation won't go through, I can't sell the stock at the market price. Not kidding. I can't get a trade through. I could try calling them, but, yeah, I'm guessing they're overloaded.

Anyone else having problems getting trades through?

Just finished the screenshot....

When I checked Yahoo right after open, they were basing the drop on the 9261 number, they are now basing the drop on the 8579 number which makes things look better than what they really are.

Yes, thats what it means.
Yahoo was showing down 10% and 1100 points at about 9:40 am, then the open and close numbers got switched and now we are only down 300 based on the new numbers.
I'm not a financial guru but I can still smell bullshit.

I use nyse.com

I'd rather have the "official" results, as news agencies tend to lose things in translation.

@ last refresh, DJIA was at 8349.64

I predict it will close below 8K today.

ok, I thought that was what you were saying but my charts show a close of 8723 yesterday wich would have us down about 423 at 8300....

I've checked several sources and 8579.19 is the agreed upon close from yesterday.

It does look like Yahoo seems to be the one with the technical issues and the % drop should be based on 8579.19 and not 9000+ as I originally saw on Yahoo's messed up site.

I was just looking at the DOW 30. I don't typically follow the markets, but something looked a bit odd.

Four of the 30 stocks are up. One of them is GM, which makes sense after their 31% drop yesterday.

The other three? BofA, Citi, JPMorg.
