If RP succeeds in Texas and stomps the neocon running against him we win him in Congress but remove any chance of him running as 3rd party for president.
Many will want to remind me that he said he will NOT run as anything but GOP, but do you think he would say anything else while running as a GOP for the 14th in Texas?

He will win, because Texas loves him, but if he lost I bet he would run 3rd party because he has a better chance.

The laws bind him in congress as a GOP. ….

Not gonna do it; wouldn't be prudent

He's not going to run 3rd party. If you want to know what the Establishment does to 3rd party candidates, google "Ralph Nader" and start digging. It will be easier to revive the conservative base of the GOP than it would be to break the two-party duopoly.

He will not run 3rd party under any circumstances. To run 3rd party would be to destroy all the work we have done. If he ran 3rd party all these neocons who have been accusing us of not being repub's would be proved correct. It would destroy our chances of taking over the R party, and he would lose the indy run anyway.

Just because he won't do the run doesn't mean we shouldn't get him on the ballot in forty-six states regardless of what happens at the G.O.P. convention. He can't be blamed for our actions and our clear intention to split the vote if he's not nominated would be quite the bargaining chip.

Volunteering is one thing. Getting drafted is another. We need to get him on the ballot without his blessing.

He is not bound as a GOP. Representatives and Senators have officially switched parties before after being elected to office--they still keep the office they were elected too. I don't see any reason why Ron Paul would even consider switching to be independent or Democrat, but if he wanted to, there is no law stopping him.

Rand Paul in 2oo8!!!

this is ONE way to get around the GOP's insistance
that its people be singleminded in the way that they
seek out public office! Why not run RAND PAUL?!!!

There is not, and never has been any chance that Ron Paul is/was ever going to run on a third party ticket. That boat sailed a long time ago. Ron Paul has said time and time again that he has no intention of running third party. He's a Republican, has been elected as a Republican ten times, and has no plans of changing that any time soon.

Here's a question... can he run in the general election as an independent non-party sanctioned Republican? I know he won't, but hypothetically, is it legal?

Technically if you can get enough signatures i dont know of any Federal law stopping it.
