Don't stop now. We still need to get the final $175,000 put in to pay off the rest.

Let's keep the momentum going so we can be sure that the rest of the contract is paid for and we don't make Trevor and Elijah end up holding the bag.

Money will roll in once people actually see the blimp with "Ron Paul" on it. That is when Ill be buying my time.

No we know really you are just waiting for them to announce Santa will be riding in the blimp come Christmas.

So, the blimp project states that it needs $200,000.00 and it looks as though that is covered. However, Hook has indicated that the blimp project needs another $175,000.00 to get off the ground. Is there a blimp site that shows the total amount needed and the total amount achieved?

No, it will get off the ground now with the $200,000. They will need to pay the rest of the $375,000 in a week or so.

The 200,000 dollars was just the down payment due by today to make it fly by the 10th. The blimp site currently says we now need $350,000 (total, not more) by the 21st to keep it flying.

Once the first pictures of the actual blimp with the banners on it start circulating, the donations will pile in. If the launch is Monday, I'd think we'd have pictures this weekend sometime.

I understand their reasons for not being able to accept paypal payments, but what's taking them so long on credit card payments? That should be trivial. I was going to kick in a donation today until I saw the available payment options.

I believe they've been waiting to make absolutely sure that $200K was going to be reached before any final decal/banner purchases were made. I'm sure it will have the decals on it by Sunday at the latest. There's also talk of it possibly departing on Tuesday as a backup.

Yup... Google Payment allows you to use credit cards. The reason Google is being used is largely because of frugality. Google processing is Free for the first month. With PayPal you have a transaction charge and a percentage charge. Rather than lose this money to the payment processor the Blimp Team used the Google option.

So, please use the Google Payment option to use your credit card and become a Blimp Sponsor.

What I meant was, direct credit card payments. I have no interest in setting up a Google checkout account. I've heard they were working on direct CC payments because they get more complaints over this than anything else. Once they get that done, I'll happily chip in some money.

Actually, the reason they're not using paypal is because paypal would freeze the payments and they can't wait for them to become unfrozen. If it wasn't for this, they would certainly offer paypal as I see many threads where people state this as their payment preference. They're not going to reject $100 to save two or three bucks.

Yes, they did say they are working on this.

I have an idea that if they are going to keep this thing up long, they will have to come to grips with market demand for alternative payment options. I forsee a time in the not so distant future where they may have no choice. Call it a hunch.
