Why 25,000 Attendees? For those who question how 25,000 Facebook attendees equals $6,000,000, even if we get 25,000 people to attend, there will still be many many times more than that who actually donate. This is taken from The Main BTO Planning & Promotion Thread...

GOAL 1: 25,000 Facebook Event Attendees: Judging from the number of people that hit the attend button on each Facebook event and the amount we raised for each bomb, we need to get about 25,000 people to hit that attend button on the Black This Out Facebook event if we plan on getting anywhere near $6,000,000. How did I get the 25,000 attendee goal? Adding the number of attendees from both the Birthday and Constitution Day Money Bomb together, it took 11,523 attendees to raise $3,000,000. So, doubling this number means we'll need 23,046 attendees to raise $6,000,000. We're making the goal 25,000 people just in case we don't make it with 23,000. Also, the Birthday Money Bomb received 7,840 attendees after only a week of promotion. We have four months to get this done. 7,840 times 4 weeks is over 30,000 attendees. This proves 25,000 attendees is ENTIRELY POSSIBLE to achieve, but ONLY if we start RIGHT NOW!

Unfortunately, Ron Paul doesn't do well on Facebook. They're gonna need to ramp up their promotion to a whole new level. 25,000 may be an unrealistic expectation.

i believe you're gonna need more than 25,000, that's $240 each. I believe you can get more than 25,000!

I've been keeping a record of the number of attendees we've been bringing in to the Facebook Event Page every day. Let me tell you this thing is starting to explode! If we were to keep only our current pace, we would reach 14,490 attendees on the Facebook event by the end of the 19th, but as you can see by the numbers below, everyday this thing keeps multiplying. Soon we will be pulling in 1,000 people a day! I told you, this is a numbers game. As long as we do the necessary promotion work, WE WILL have another $6,000,000 day. We just need to do the work, so anybody that has been hesitant to join in, now is the time to do so here... Black This Out, Want $6,000,000? We Need THE ENTIRE MONTH for Promotion & 25,000 Attendees

You must not have read the main thread. Even if we get 25,000 people to attend, there will be many many times more than that that actually donate.. Taken from the main planning thread...

We Need 25,000 People to Hit the Attend Button on Facebook! Without that #, $6,000,000 is Impossible: Judging from the number of people that hit the attend button on each Facebook event and the amount we raised for each bomb, we need to get about 25,000 people to hit that attend button on the Black This Out Facebook event if we plan on getting anywhere near $6,000,000. I think you are looking at it the wrong way. For example, Constitution Day Money Bomb had 3,683 Attending but over 20,000 people donated. The promoting is key, the numbers will snowball.

Black This Out needs to look past merely limiting itself to Facebook functionality and Facebook audiences. Many people who have Facebook accounts don't necessarily use them, or don't regularly check them. As well, there are other means of social networking now that exist outside of Facebook. If the goal is to reach as many people as possible to get as many potential pledges and ultimately as many contributions as possible, it doesn't make sense to focus this entire initiative on one specific hub. This needs to be expanded to other sources, other hubs.

Google+, for instance, has tens of millions of users already and is growing rapidly--even stealing users from Facebook. Youtube is another big one, but there doesn't seem to be a dedicated Youtube channel, or even regular Youtube videos to promote this. I've seen two videos for Black This Out, and while they are certainly valuable, they could be improved upon to better promote the message and the initiative. The fliers look great, but I don't see much of any effort to organize or let people know how they are best distributed. What about signage or a complimentary signbomb day preceding the Black This Out deadline?

I think there is a lot of potential for this moneybomb to reach levels that more recent moneybombs have not, especially given the theme of this particular moneybomb and recent events with regard to media distortion, spin, and blatant disregard--this is a huge motivator for many supporters of Ron Paul. Capitalize on this as much as possible. And is the main website being kept up to date? October 19th is just around the corner. I think doing everything possible to kick this up to the next gear is necessary to its potential success.

We are using more sites than Facebook. I've never used Google+ but we've been very active on Youtube. We've been thumbing up comments about the bomb and asking current video makers to include annotations in their videos about it. Some people are also using Twitter.

Attending and sent suggestes to attend to a few dozen.

Let's make it happen, people.

I've pledged. It would really mean a lot if this event raised 6 mil.

I just can't wait to see the attack ads that come out of this money! He'll be able to keep going no matter who tries to take us down.

We also have over 700 pledges at the blackthisout site. That is over 3,000 pledges in 4 days!

We can do this but we need everyone on board and promoting. Post on Message Boards, News Article Comments, Twitter, Youtube comments, Ask Youtube video makers to add annotations, Meetup groups, everywhere!

It's almost hard for me to believe that this candidate has a real chance of being elected. This just isn't an opportunity we can pass up.

27 have been added to the attending list since the above post. 27 in 40 minutes. On pace to add 972 for the day.

kind of concerned the end of quarter push is going to cut into this, but oh well, do what we can.

As already pointed out, the facebook number is just being used as a rough metric of total participation, taking into account a lot of people just like me that will never, ever, "facebook" or anything like it.

I'm excited about this one, it's getting good promotion and, more importantly, it has an edgy, "FU Establishment" tone to it that helped make past money bombs so successful.
