Aside - An Important Distinction: Democracy versus Republic...

A Democracy

The chief characteristic and distinguishing feature of a Democracy is: Rule by Omnipotent Majority. In a Democracy, The Individual, and any group of Individuals composing any Minority, have no protection against the unlimited power of The Majority. It is a case of Majority-over-Man.

A Republic

A Republic, on the other hand, has a very different purpose and an entirely different form, or system, of government. Its purpose is to control The Majority strictly, as well as all others among the people, primarily to protect The Individual’s God-given, unalienable rights and therefore for the protection of the rights of The Minority, of all minorities, and the liberties of people in general. The definition of a Republic is: a constitutionally limited government of the representative type, created by a written Constitution--adopted by the people and changeable (from its original meaning) by them only by its amendment--with its powers divided between three separate Branches: Executive, Legislative and Judicial. Here the term "the people" means, of course, the electorate.

That said, is it not true that Mr. Trump is essentially soliciting from one side of his lips the very system of order that he is complaining about through the other side? Seems so. It's scwewy alright. Heh. Whackobird...

Yea....our Republic had done a greeeeaaatttt job at accomplishing all of the above.

#ArticlesOfConfederation

Do you contend, then, that failure has been a product of the principles of our Republican form of government itself (those of a true Republic), Libertas Aut Mortis? If so, then, how, in your view, would the principles of a Democracy succeed? If not, then, why not? Let's think this through.

Aside from that, what would you like to discuss with regard to the Articles of Confederation? I see that you referenced them but left the insertion open.

Guess again, Goober Donald. Clues for sale.

I'll add reference to your thoughts here in that the danger to liberty due to the turbulence of democracies and an omnipotent, legislative majority is discussed in The Federalist, numbers 10 and 48 by Madison. Of course, Madison notes in The Federalist 48 Jefferson's affirmation (Notes On The State of Virginia, 1781-1782) that an elective despotism was not the government we fought for.
