Fresh email from the campaign, something for locals and outsiders to help on:

Dear Supporter,

Nancy Cassis has decided to run a scorched earth campaign that breaks Ronald Reagan's 11th Commandment against lobbing falsehoods against good conservatives. She plans to launch a massive TV advertising and mail campaign with the goal of misrepresenting Kerry's positions in order to scare voters. Michigan Republicans need leaders that can base campaigns on more than just fear. This election was always going to be about the monied establishment versus the grassroots.

Across this nation, from Indiana to Texas, Americans have seen Tea Party and grassroots conservatives take on the establishment and win. It's time for that to happen here in Michigan! In order to fight the Cassis smear machine we need to show the power of our grassroots volunteers. To do that we're going to need an army to knock on doors in the district, explaining the truth about Kerry's conservative/small government credentials. With three weeks left until Election Day, every voter we touch to counts.
We have the goal of talking to 10,000 voters face to face, showing Michigan's 11th District which Republican represents the people rather than special interests. We need your help today and this weekend to reach undecided voters across the 11th Congressional District? Will you help us out by committing to go door to door or phone bank from home this week?

If you can help us, please e-mail me at [email protected] with your name, town, phone number, and whether you want to phone bank or go door to door and I will get you walk lists or phone lists and literature. Or, Donate.

Thank you for all your help.

Sincerely,
Tony Lis
Director of Field Operations

Michigan's election website shows Kerry submitting 1,075 signatures for the special election:
http://miboecfr.nictusa.com/election/candlist/12SP1/12SP1_CL.HTM

Since the minimum is 1,000, do you know if they are still collecting signatures? It doesn't seem like 75 signatures gives the campaign a lot of room for error.
The last call for sigs is tonight for tomorrow's deadline in Lansing. The good thing about the margin of error is these sigs were collected by seasoned activists, not collectors looking for a paycheck @ $1 per sig which is how third parties typically collect. Plus, all sigs were/are verified prior to turn in.
