here it goes again.

You're wishing the doom of your own republic.

not really, the government can finance its growth by printing money only because the dollar is the world reserve currency. if the dollar drops enough so that it's no longer considered the world reserve currency, the rate of growth of government will halt sharply.

so you would've been accurate if you said he was wishing for the greatness of his own republic, not the doom.

The crash will be painful, but it's going to come sooner or later so we may as well get it over with. Well, maybe it'd be best to hope that it can carry on a little bit longer so we have longer to prepare, and longer to educate people.

It will go back up, gotta keep the crap game rolling...soon will be the goldbugs eh?

just saying...thats it...

I like to consider it the reset button. What comes out of the reset is what matters and that's where liberty minded individuals need to set example and step up.

On topic: Remember that the DX is only relative to other currencies, not a measure of the strength of the dollar overall. It can be 80 and practically worthless considering the race to the bottom going on with most of the world's major currencies.

You honestly believe this nation is dependent for its security--and its greatness--on some bankster institution? Got news for you--it grew to greatness on gold and silver, and the less silver we've had in our coins the more our greatness has declined. I'm not saying these are related incidents, I'm just saying...

"But I am telling them that the country as a whole is sound, and that all those who's heads are solid are bound to get back into the market again. I tell 'em that this country is bigger than Wall Street, and if they don't believe it I show 'em a map!"--Will Rogers 1929

This is brilliant.

what does the dollar index indicate?
anyone care to "dumb it down" for me?

that's good enough, though valuating the Greenback against other racketeering FIAT currency counterfeiters, ain't sayin much.

It needs to be against a basket of commodities(Gold/Silver/Platium/Crude/etc) with a sentencing of Death by Guilotine if anyone/anything tries to manipulate the commodities basket. Wishful thinking... to be continued

It indicates the price of gold!

No, but really it's an index comparing the dollar to a basket of currencies, all of which are fiat. It's basically a value of the dollar with a start point of 100. When the index increases the dollar is stronger (deflation) and when it declines it's weaker (higher inflation).

to give you an idea, after lehman went down the dollar index crashed to 71. this is when we had $100+ oil and food and other commodity prices went through the roof.

it is now at 77. if it falls and passes through 74 we are in for some serious shit.

i wrote about it in this thread here--- http://67.225.158.147/showthread.php?t=172336

Not just government ...

One would think environmentalists would stridently support the elimination of fiat currencies. At least the Green party supports elimination of the Federal Reserve so there appears to be some understanding of the role of fiat currencies in paving over paradise.

That's what I hope for.
