I've been looking and I bought a WWII era German coin to test the waters, but I was just curious how many of you buy and sell gold and silver on ebay.

yes, but only things I am familiar with.

I'll buy pre 1933 US gold coins, but would never buy a German coin.

Yeah, it was only a couple of bucks, not that expensive. If I buy anything expensive, I'll only buy the same models that are on the APMEX site, although from what I can tell, APMEX has better prices than ebay does.

Can I get a little education on why german cons are off limits?? I'm assuming they're being bought for their gold content instead of some superfluous bs content.

I do, in fact, that's where most of my trading goes. But I only buy bullion, because I'm dirt poor :(

I've bought lots of silver on ebay but lately I have not been winning anything. Never had a bad experience though.

Bought some 90% US silver coins and 1 oz. silver bars from ebay dealers. No problems so far.

Yeah I got some silver maple leafs recently no problem. Watch paypal though, they're pretty sketchy; don't ever keep any money actually in a paypal account.

I buy all mine on ebay and if your careful you will have no problem. Also always pay with paypal as they protect you if someone tries to rip you off.

how much are the $20 gold pieces (saints and libs) going for on e-bay? what's that market like on ebay? because the patriot radio guys are saying it is very hard to get libs and saints.

I bought some pre 1964 90% silver coins on Ebay. Here are a few tips on "junk" silver.

1. Each $1 face value contains about .72 ounces of silver. ($1 face value = 2 50 cent pieces, or one 50 cent + 5 dimes, or 2 quarters 5 dimes, etc.)
2. These are quantities small enough for bartering. You can trade a dime for a chicken for example, but it's going to be hard to split up your big bar for such a purchase.
3. If the shit hits the fan, these are recognizable currency. Much more so than a silver Philharmonic etc.

Seems like the going rate on Ebay is $15-16 an ounce for silver when bought in junk form. I just found a local dealer that sold it for $13.84 yesterday...d'oh!

Easier, just look on www.coinflation.com

And add at least 10% to estimate the reasonable total with shipping included.

So I have been looking on ebay and a bunch of the sites I have seen suggested looking for silver, and I was wondering about Silver Shot. It looks like it is cheaper that spot. Is that just because it is not in coin form and not as transferable?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
