DoD Directive 1404.10 - Civilian Expeditionary Workforce

Yeah saw this today, we are so screwed Quoting:

Management retains the authority to direct and assign civilian employees, either voluntarily, involuntarily, or on an unexpected basis to accomplish the DoD mission.

a quick scan of the first 5 pages tells me that this is a reclassification of existing DOD employees in a manner that subjects them to deployment alongside the .mil.

It isnt exactly suprising that the DOD is trying to create a system underwhich their non combat needs are provided by a civilian workforce that they control and can deploy worldwide at will. I would assume that this means to cover existing DOD civilian employees, and to hire more. This prevents them from having to hire mercenaries for security or KBR to drive trucks or open dining halls, and pay high wages that reflect the risk. Now if you want to do DOD work, you are likely to get paid less for it, and be forced to submit to the USMJ while deployed...

I think the most tragic part of this document is that it shows that the .mil is planning for MORE empire building, not less.

The upside for us is that it reflects a thinking that all this new currency in circulation is going to be used up by foreign adventures, hence it should potentially stave off hyperinflation another decade or so. The downside is that they are doubling down. They think the way out of this is to rule the world, not to return to a Republic.

Also could this mean that they deploy Blackwater employees to do combat that they don't want our troops doing?

My first and admitttedly cursory read indicates that this applies to DOD employees only. Perhaps if Blackwater hires them and provides them to DOD on contract, but that makes Blackwater the military equivalent of Manpower...

Im sure there are other ways to hire mercenary companies as contractors, but I dont think this program is designed for it.

They talk about getting a civilian to fill out an application and be trained in a certain skill then sent home and left in a database to be called upon when that skill is needed, and while employed by them you are called a DoD civilian, but how long is their training going to be to become a DoD civilian? Probably just a 30 minute course on how to "find a terrorist".

Bah, whatever, until the DOD gets its mission back to defending our physical borders and trade routes from physical aggression, they can tickle my scrot.
