Minnesota Guard ag specialists headed for Afghanistan

An ADT team from Arkansas has been working for two years in Zabul province, so the Minnesotans won't be walking in cold. Even so, nobody expects miracles overnight.

"It's going to come with its inherent challenges, but it's a good mission," Fischer said. "It's a mission that's going to let us impact the lives of Afghani farmers halfway around the world. We're the tools by which Minnesota's agricultural background makes a difference in the counterinsurgency fight."

Certainly would be nice to have our Guard members back here doing the stuff they used to do (and that FEMA is now whining about.)

There has been an Indiana Guard Ag unit there off and on for years , teaching improved farming practices .

There used to be some very nice agricultural imports from Afghanistan.
