Do you think Maine GOP Caucus was fraudulent?

Eh. I would say that at worst, this was fraudulent. At best it was an atrociously managed caucus, rife with inconsistencies and stupidity.

My guess is that where "inconsistencies" and results of stupidity popped up, the establishment (read, the people Romney put in place in Maine) erred on the side of Mittens, and in addition to that there may have been a precinct or two in which the results were... umm... terminated with extreme prejudice, or something.

Is this acceptable?

There is not another 4 years. It is now or never. No B*lllshit.

$10,000 bet?

America will still exist in four years, and it will probably look a lot like it does today and did four years ago.

Apocalyptic, bombastic, Gingrichian language wins us no favors.

I mean really, when are Americans going to quit being subservient? Other Countries don't put up with this sh*t. You guys have become a nation of malingerers (not forum members). I left there when I was 23 years old.

No, sir. IF anyone cheated, they should be held accountable. And the same is true for those who led this tremendous example of stupidity.

That said, there does exist the possibility that even if some results were juked (which we still don't know for sure) and there were no acts of extreme stupidity (we know that there were) we would still not have won Maine. I say this just to raise the point and keep it on our minds. We're so quick to jump to conclusions around here (and I'm not blaming anyone, ESPECIALLY in this instance) that we often fail to consider the entirety of an event.

Hey, I have an idea. My intuition tells me that there should be an easy way to mathematically show that the GOP calling the election with only 84% of the votes in, with the numbers being so close, is not a sound argument. EVEN assuming those numbers are correct. I need someone who is better at statistics than I am. Any volunteers? At the very least, this is a good exercise for a stat student:

Here's what someone can do:
1. Take the published results
http://www.mainegop.com/wp-content/u...us_results.pdf
2. Treat each precint as a sample of the total true population.
3. Convert votes to % in each precinct (Where there are votes)
4. Find the mean, standard deviation, etc for each candidate so that we have something like Romney 39% +/- 5%, Paul 36 +/- 5%
5. Use a t-test or something to test for statistical difference between Romney and Paul
6. Show how if 16% of the votes still need to be cast (the number being thrown around earlier), which is a lot, that variances in that population could have Paul going as the winner, maybe 10,20,30,40% of the time.

Any takers?

Give it a rest. I am not interested in wining any favors. I have news for you, in four years time America will be f*cked, and hence the rest of the World. You have that typical "USA" attitude that people from other lands despise. Go travel (recently I spent 3 months in China on business). They are about to kick some serious ass. Wake up!

So what is going to happen? Does FOX news have journalists scanning Maine? CNN? ABC? CBS? MSNBC? Stop pussy-footing around, and be outraged. Americans always tell others how to conduct their lives. Go set an example. If this happened in Australis, the Government would be out on their ass.

Pity Whitney Houston didn't die in Maine. I'll bet all the news media would be braving those snow storms.
