the following is a list of all candidates running for congress in the US in the 2008 election

if anyone could help me weed out the bad from the good that would be awesome.

SO if you happen to know that any of them are bad or good please post here (please provide something as proof like a link or something for me to go on.

I could also use volunteers to help me do this, a research team for LSP actually... you don't have to commit to anything if you don't want but even providing me with some information would be great :)

thanks

heres the list

PS... if you would like to volunteer please email [email protected]

thanks!

I think Richard Matthews in Maryland's Second District is a pretty good guy :-)

http://www.richardmatthews.org

thanks tekkierich... ill be looking him up..if you know anything about him that makes him a good example of a liberty candidate please let me know

also as an addition i can say that roy blunt (R-MO) is an ass

and i think thomas knapp (L-MO) is a good guy but ill have to do some research to verify that

All of the Republicans running for AZ U.S. House 1 are Neocons to the max. Democrat Shanker is OK on the war and privacy issues but he's pretty much a socialist. From what I've read, Shanker is probably the least of all the evils though. I'm still registered Republican so my choices for congress are bad and worse.

Rodney in the 11th in NJ is a Neocon... he has been around forever is a dino like mccain and wont let go cause he is a rich and has an important nj last name... michael moore ran a ficus plant against him <-- enough said lol

Regarding NV...the following three are all running R and all were instrumental in the success of the NV GOP Convention finishing up on June 28th. They are all Ron Paul Republicans. James Smack's campaign manager is Wayne Terhune and that, in my opinion, shows his true colors.
*NV House 1 Chris Dyer (who can forget his love song to Sue Lowden?) www.chrisdyer.com
*NV House 2 James Smack R A true conservative and instrumental in the NV Convention success www.jamessmack.com
*NV House 3 Carl Bunce R www.carlbunce.com

Sullivan OK district one. Party hack. Made a speech at the district convention and when I started a round of applause for his empty mention of fiscal responsibility, he looked irritated--like, silly Paultards, a balanced budget isn't an applause line.

Boren--son of former senator and governor David Boren, now president of a state university. Down in Muskogee. Slightly better than your average Democrat, and seems connected to his constituents. Still a Democrat, though. Not conservative.

tn house 1 Mahmood Sabri was the leader of our Ron Paul Meetup Group and is now the leader of the Campaign for Liberty meetup and holds strong to the constitution and returning liberty but not enough money to advertise so will probably not make any waves this time around but will be more prepared next time. and it's Phil Roe, not David Roe running for house 1 and his slogan is people not politics and claims to never take a penny from lobbyists or special interest groups while in congress... but thats as much i know i just worry that it's rhetoric. it looks like he may be able to take out the incumbent which is David Davis and he is a scumbag so that would be good

Rob Russell is the lead singer for a band in the area called Rob Russell and The Sore Losers and doesn't seem to be taking the quest for congress very seriously. mike donihe runs every year and gets crushed because this is a red state for the most part

edit just looked into Phil Roe a little more in depth i think he is worth checking out (www.roe4congress.com)

and roxic i will try to find more detailed info on those running for tn district one and email them to you in a couple days so put me down for tn 1

MD U.S. House 6 Roscoe Bartlett (Running) Republican

Very weird guy. He was on CSPAN1 (House channel) yesterday, fear-mongering about the likelihood of an EMP attack on the United States, complete with charts and graphs.

He was also involved in a bizarre ritual of Sun Yung Moon's cult, where Moon was declared the messiah:

In March 2004, Bartlett attended a Washington ceremony in which the Rev. Sun Myung Moon crowned himself the Messiah. Many lawmakers attended the Moon's coronation, with many later saying they were duped into attendance and didn't know of the crowning ceremony beforehand. Bartlett said he attended because Moon owned the conservative newspaper The Washington Times and that he didn't know about Moon's speech beforehand.[3] However, it was later reported that Bartlett took a more extensive role in the ceremony, carrying Moon's robe to Moon for the coronation, in which Moon and his wife were declared "messiahs of the world."[4] Bartlett had also been listed on the original invitation as one of six Congressional co-chairs of the event.[5] Bartlett's spokeswoman told Christian Challenge that Bartlett "received the Ambassadors for Peace Award from the Washington Times Foundation for his work in Congress, and attended part of the banquet ... this was the sum total of his participation ... His attendance in no way reflects an endorsement of what the Rev. Moon said or did at that event, or at any other time."[5]

This is an email I received from the Miller-Meeks campaign in IA Congressional District 2:

Thank you so much for contacting the campaign.

Dr. Miller-Meeks is definitely against increased government involvement in
people's health care decisions. She would not vote to restrict access to
nutritional supplements. The government should be out of this issue and
allow individuals to make their own decisions.

We ask that you please support Dr. Miller-Meeks tomorrow at the polls.
Thank you very much for your consideration!

Best regards,

Todd Versteegh
Campaign Manager
Miller-Meeks for Congress
(319) 828 5014

She's not a politician, she's a doctor, so I thought I'd pick her brain about health care. She favors alternative energy sources, especially wind energy, but she does not believe ethanol is the answer. She also favors a flat tax or fair tax.

Her opponent, Loebsack, was a college professor and was just elected two years ago. He considers himself a Progressive, and has voted with the Democrats on almost every vote since he's been in DC.

OR U.S. House 1 Joel Haugen (Running) Republican
OR U.S. House 1 David Wu (Running) Democratic
OR U.S. House 2 Noah Lemas (Running) Democratic (Never heard of him)
OR U.S. House 2 Greg Walden (Running) Republican
OR U.S. House 3 Earl Blumenauer (Running) Democratic
OR U.S. House 3 Delia Lopez, Mrs. (Running) Republican
OR U.S. House 4 Peter DeFazio (Running) Democratic
OR U.S. House 5 Mike Erickson (Running) Republican
OR U.S. House 5 Kurt Schrader (Running) Democratic (Never heard of him)

Here's my opinion:

Haugen - he came to one of our Repub meetings - he supports Obama for Pres, wants mandatory national service for young adults (including military service as an option because our military forces are spread too thin ) - wants to increase our tax base (not cut taxes/spending) ?? I get the impression he is very globalistic - ugh - I'll pass, thank you -

Wu - he is my Congress Critter - he's very "spend spend spend"

Walden - the only Repub Congressman from our state - I don't know much about him other than that -

Blumenauer
- Not too sure about his policies (he's incumbent)

Lopez - I've had a few conversations with her - she seems like a straight shooter :p

Defazio - not too sure about his policies (he's incumbent)

Erickson - not too sure if he is a neocon but with Hooley retiring this seat is totally open -

I didn't see Washington State on your list (maybe I missed it) but I would like to give thumbs up to Michael Delavar in House Dist 3 - he's awesome! :)

I read the title of this thread and immediately though of missing candidates on milk cartons...
