Not as much as Id like to. Soda is too delicious sometimes. And iced tea still has it :( But I try to cut down to juice and water.

Table sugar and HFCS are the same thing. Both contain about half fructose, a poison that cannot be used in your bodies cells that only ruins your liver and makes you diabetic.

there has been a study done that shows a higher correlation in people with diabetes later in life that consume mostly HFCS rather than pure sugar.

edit: rather people are more likely to develop diabetes later in life that consume more HFCS than people that consume mostly sugar. i'll try to find it.

here is an article about the study. apparently HFCS is much worse for you than normal sugar.

What should be consumed instead?

Being on a paleo diet I've avoided sweeteners altogether, even artificial ones. Now apples taste like candy to me.

Of the sweeteners, pick whichever is least processed like raw honey. Stevia is the best of the artificial sweeteners.

But I recommend not using them at all. If you abstain from sweeteners and sweets long enough, even healthy foods like sweet potatoes and berries will taste delicious.

Please don't mind if I'm nit-picky.... but Stevia is a natural sweetener.

I avoid HFCS like the plague, it is an obvious poison. I try to use honey as sweetener now and pay attention to how long sugars will stay present in my metabolism with other foods I consume. Still use refined sugars with my coffee, not sure when that will change.

I avoid sugar and hfcs as much as I can. I eat natural sugars like those in fruits and veggies but try not to go overboard. For sweetener I use stevia extract or sugar alcohol(xylotal). Both are natural and don't have any effect like other sweeteners.
