Disparity in Rally vs. Voter Numbers - Michigan

We've all been fans of that indie band. You know, the one that "writes its own songs," "plays its own instruments," and is a "million times better" than the MTV/ClearChannel flavor of the week band.

And even though we pack their shows, buy their swag, talk them up, and cultivate a passionate bubbling beneath the surface, we still get pissed when MTV/ClearChannel's band sells 1,000,000 albums to our 1,000, or fills a 70,000-seat stadium with no effort.

We know our band is fantastic, but no one else does -- and they won't, either. The public likes to be spoon fed and they take their vanilla like babies: whether it's music, television, news, or politics, to seek out alternatives would be too difficult.

Thank you, Wilco:

The best band will never get signed
the Kay-Settes starring Butchers Blind
So good, you won’t ever know
You can’t hear ’em on the radio

Literally none of those things are happening now. Go to Russia, the nations that surround it, Africa or the Middle East if you want to see that garbage.

superpac legislation change by obama is not a type of manipulation... you have to admit there has been some shady happenings goin on...who knows where its coming from..is it a stretch, kind of..would any of us put it past gov't to blackout the most threatening person to the establishment?? think about it...

did you look at the other 13 from the link? you cannot tell me that none of those things are happening...are we in full fascism? no..are we leaning towards, absolutely

2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights - Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.
3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause - The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.
4. Supremacy of the Military - Even when there are widespread
domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.
6. Controlled Mass Media - Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common. **not fully yet, but to a minor extent, think of the GE which has special MIC interests, think NBC=GE (and the defense contracts they get)..have they controlled or manipulated media, or blacked out anyone?
7. Obsession with National Security - Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.
9. Corporate Power is Protected - The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.
12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment - Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations. ** obama has spoken of some kind of Civilian National Force ..or something along those lines ...
13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption - Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.

Yeah, I used to live in Russia, and saw this happening personally. Now, they weren't so much 'fraudulent' (that would be the Iranian election) as they were 'staged'- the fact that the ruling party got under 50% of the vote shows that they don't go full-tint to gain a popular narrative. They just 'tweak' the numbers. IOW, it isn't comparable to many other places.

Maybe the campaign could check into how these college kids could do absentee voting in their areas since they can't vote at school?

There are about a million Arab Muslims and Christians in the greater Detroit area, or at least there were when I lived there a little over thirty years ago. Hard to believe there would be fewer now. So, my question is, where was all their support for Ron? Didn't see any exit polls for their demographic. But we had a situation in NV last time where they pledged all kinds of support, then not one of them showed up to caucus for Ron. I wonder what kinds of numbers Ron got for being evenhanded in his Middle East policy. Seems like not a lot, especially since this was an open primary.

How would gerrymandering effect a primary election?
When you have like Michigan which gives delegates according to the winners of congressional districts. Detroit was gerrymandered last time around, in fact they current winner of congressional districts is yet to be determined. The Michigan secretary of state hasn't updated voting districts with the new congressional districts so who actually won a few areas - such as Detroit - is still unknown.

I'm sorry but I think we're over thinking things. Voters 50-70 years old from the era of Rock'n'Roll and The Civil Rights Movement aren't interested in voting for a liberty candidate? I see people from around the world supporting RP, you can't tell me the US is clueless. I agree with those who feel it's part media cover-up, laziness, and yes even fraud. It doesn't matter what's causing the superficial negativity. What matters is that we as a movement support each other and when the time comes, we defend what we stand for.
I joined this site a couple weeks back when it looked like things were crashing for some of you. I joined here to say I've been a lurker for awhile and fought my battles away from here with your insight. I'm here to let you know there's people beyond what you might know or are familiar with. There's 37,000 members here, not even a scratch of those who have already voted or donated their time and funds. You have people in this movement you don't even realize exist who don't even realize you exist. Keep pushing this forward, people will begin to speak up and introduce themselves and show support. Hold on because we need you guys here so we can find you. I think when push comes to shove we will take this over.

Thank you, Wilco:

I remember a band that was like that once. They were called Nirvana.

(Actually I wasn't familiar with Nirvana until they got big but it applies.)

Anyway the old fucks don't like RP because they think he's gonna take social security away.

Yes, let's talk about this.

Much like Ron Paul vs Mitt Romney, the Clear Channel band does not fill stadiums. Getting played over and over again on the radio just doesn't bring people to the shows. Indie acts do better on the road.

People who like indie acts are more passionate, passionate enough to see shows. Like Ron Paul. What I have found, unfortunately, is that indie rock bands, who really should like Ron Paul, don't, at least not a lot. I think they still mostly like Obama or they prefer Occupy. We've been getting support from mainstream acts, and not as much as I would like from indie acts. Ron Paul = indie. Nobody really sells albums anymore, not like the old days. Downloading singles, maybe for the radio acts.

The grandmas don't want revolution. They might think he's gonna take social security away, or not, but they don't want major change. It's not as easy as convincing them that Ron Paul won't take SS away. The grandmas don't want something different.

I saw Nirvana on the day Nevermind was released.

Those people have CHANGED. They wanted one thing 40 years ago. They're now old. They want something different now.

They CAN vote at school. They just have to REGISTER at their school. It's not difficult.
