About 60 percent of Iran's oil income is currently in non-dollar currencies.

We use a small percentage from there, so this will be a slow thing, and others will follow, but it's not panic time yet. Unless someone has other data.

Yesterday I read some articles about it in Germany. (Handelszeitung and RIA NOVOSTI)
RIA NOVOSTI, the russian news media, was reporting, that the Iranian ambassador Gholam Reza Ansari in Moskau told, he could imagine that the Russian ruble could replace the dollar for selling oil.

Anyone, who has an article about it in English?

Other Media also reporting, that the impact would not be so extreme, like a nightmare scenario and would crash the dollar in a short time.

It's been known for quite a while now... months actually. It was originally proposed as a Bourse on Kish back in 2005 or 2006.

It is a big deal, but less because of the actual market impact that Iran will currently have, and more on the psychological impact that it has on the rest of OPEC.

We're already seeing most other oil countries posturing to remove the dollar as the oil reserve currency. That's the threat. We tried to nip the original threat in the bud with Iraq after it opened one up in 2000. Iran, I don't think we can do anything about.

The world is on to us now... and they're joining forces.

Kyle AF. I hope you are right. Although the world being against you doesn't seem to bother you too much normally: Kyoto; pre-emptive war; support for Israel; war crimes, torture, and on ... anyone think it's more then coincidence that a single refinery "blew up, cutting supplies" in texas sending oil past a hundred dollars a barrel? Meanwhile the boarse opened and had minimal if any impact according to the media.

It sounds like the EU is abusing their currency as well with all the liquidity their injecting into the market. Perhaps rubles would be a more secure currency over Euro's? Anyone have an opinion on this?
