So do you all also think that the Beijing Olympic setup was designed to showcase totalitarianism?

And so it was decreed, henceforth, no child of Hitler's architect, or any descendant thereof, shall ever again produce a work of architecture!

(many of the nazi architectural works were rather stunning though)

First time I ain't digging something here.

I don't care.

You should checkout the digg article and look at the history of the olympic rings in the comments.

The fact is that the Nazi regime had a huge influence on the olympics back then, and now it is going through the same blood line.

If you think it is just a coincidence, then fine. But once you start researching and making the connections, it seems a bit suspicious.

The rings, and the flame traveling around the world was Hitler's idea.

In other Olympic news, I think the US keeps getting robbed of gymnastics medals.

Robbed? They won the gold and silver in all around. The Chinese are being favored, but we still won.

We got robbed last night of at least bronze, if not silver, in the individual vault. We got 4th while the Chinese person got bronze after falling to her knees. The Chinese girl got a 15.05 for that. The North Korean got a 15.5 and a 15.7, winning gold, when the German and the American looked better on landings (that's the only thing my untrained eye can determine). They made up for it though by knocking the Chinese off the medals entirely on floor exercise, we got silver and bronze, Romania got gold, I think that looked about right.

In team all around, I really don't understand how we can get gold and silver in the individual all around, then (if good judging prevailed) knock the Chinese, so far at least, off the medal stands in two individual events. Unless the Chinese get a couple golds in the next couple of events, I'll begin to think that gold was stolen too.

Who cares? Albert Speer designed buildings and his book "Inside the Third Reich" is an excellent source for history buffs to learn about Hitler and his inner circle. I mean come on, Speer just designed buildings for Hitler, just as Porsche designed the Volkswagen for Hitler. Sure later Speer helped make the manufacturing of war materials more efficient and thus prolonged the war, but he wasn't a Nazi. In fact he was not part of the party as you'd find out if you read his memoirs (really neat book, I recommend it highly). So his kid took up the family business of designing buildings, a lot of people do that.

So what, Hitler had an eye for art. The guy used to be a painter for crying out loud.

From what I hear, he tried to get into art school. But they denied his classical view as they were more a contemporary establishment. He got denied maybe 2 or 3 times.

I think they were Jewish too.

So... if he would have been accepted, he wouldnt have become a political leader, and he would hate the jews, and...OMG!

DAMN YOU NEW ART! DAMN YOU TO HELL!!!!
