The big news ... remember how the 'Granny Warriors' had raised enough money to pay for the Republican recount? Here's a funny thing, PayPal (owned by Time Warner) froze their account for 'unusual activity' in raising such a large amount of money in such a short amount of time ($50,000+).

Suddenly there was no money to pay for the recount and pitifully little time to raise it again before another deadline passed and the recount would not be made.

Immediately another group offered the money with the proviso they would be paid back when PayPal eventually gave back the money to Granny Warriors.

Unfortunately the appropriate voting officials were conviently unavailable yesterday to accept payment, and the guy in charge has stated that if the state of NH does not get payment by 9:00 AM EST today, there will be no recount.

Did I mention the same fellow (let's call him Mr. Shit) also ruled that payment must be made in cash or certified bank check?

My guess is that people will show up at the appropriate place with cash (since the banks probably don't open until 9:00 AM) but the appropriate officials won't show up until 9:05 AM, and Mr. Shit will announce there will be no recount. He will be taken to court and lose, but enough time will have passed for LHS to have substitute-and-shredded the paper ballots into alignment for a 'safe' recount.

One thing that COULD make a huge difference in the Grannies" case is for a federal judge to slap the Mr Shit official with a cease and desist order and appoint a Special Master to replace him in his job.

It's worked with "untouchable" government agencies like the Texas Department of Corrections in Ruiz et al v. Estelle et al.

Before: Armed inmates known as Building Tenders and Turnkeys were given officially unofficial police powers over other inmates, including the arbitrary beatings and even killings of other inmates.

During: Estelle, the director of TDC, had David Ruiz locked down with no access to attorney visits, law books or even writing paper.
Parts of the lawsuit were written on toilet paper and smuggled out.

After: The Texas prisons are still a hell-hole worse than those in VietNam and most other Third World countries.
... but at least they aren't arming convicted murderers and Nazi-splinter-group members and telling them it's ok to kill other inmates.
