Did Obama just call Israel's wall an apartheid wall in his speech in Europe today indirectly?

Full script of Obama's speech

...

That is why the greatest danger of all is to allow new walls to divide us from one another.

The walls between old allies on either side of the Atlantic cannot stand. The walls between the countries with the most and those with the least cannot stand. The walls between races and tribes; natives and immigrants; Christian and Muslim and Jew cannot stand. These now are the walls we must tear down.

We know they have fallen before. After centuries of strife, the people of Europe have formed a Union of promise and prosperity. Here, at the base of a column built to mark victory in war, we meet in the center of a Europe at peace. Not only have walls come down in Berlin, but they have come down in Belfast, where Protestant and Catholic found a way to live together; in the Balkans, where our Atlantic alliance ended wars and brought savage war criminals to justice; and in South Africa, where the struggle of a courageous people defeated apartheid.

Another recent news report on a slightly related note:

Waters writes on West Bank wall

_41797600_waters_afp203b.jpg

The Pink Floyd bassist was to perform in Tel Aviv in June but switched the venue following pressure from dozens of Palestinian artists.

Neveh Shalom, a mixed Arab-Jewish community near Israel's boundary with the West Bank, is seen as a symbol of peace.

Waters was asked to change his plans in an open letter from musicians who claimed Israel was "oppressing" Palestinians.

Pink Floyd's Another Brick in the Wall is used as a protest song by opponents of Israel's barrier in the West Bank.

Its lyrics have been adapted to read: "We don't need no occupation. We don't need no racist wall."

But it may be hard to ascertain Obama's positions on issues as they change often, here is an easier question: what is your view on the wall?

There may be another flip flop in the making here:

Rep. Robert Wexler (D-Fla.), an ardent Obama supporter, said such questions have good answers. "His record on Israel is an A-plus," said Wexler, who represents more Jews than any other congressman. "His support for Israel's right to self-defense is perfect. He was supportive of Israel's right to build a security fence.

"fence" bening a 25 ft high, 400-mile long wall.

This was his position in 2004:

When Obama first ran for the Senate in 2004, the Chicago Jewish News interviewed him on his stance regarding Israel's security fence. He accused the Bush administration of neglecting the "Israeli-Palestinian" situation and criticized the security fence built by Israel to prevent terror attacks: "The creation of a wall dividing the two nations is yet another example of the neglect of this Administration in brokering peace," Obama was quoted as saying.

Others have tried to answer the above question before:

Fence? Security barrier? Apartheid wall?

Israel is spending $1 billion on a structure to seal itself off from the West Bank. But the question of what to call it provokes an explosive debate.

By Eric Boehlert

Aug. 1, 2003 | The newest and most controversial piece of architecture in the Middle East will stretch a total of 300 miles through Israel and the West Bank, a $1 billion combination of trenches, electronic fences, concrete walls and razor coil rising in some places to 25 feet high.

Twilight Zone / 'Worse than apartheid'

By Gideon Levy

Tags: Apartheid, Nablus, Israel

I thought they would feel right at home in the alleys of Balata refugee camp, the Casbah and the Hawara checkpoint. But they said there is no comparison: for them the Israeli occupation regime is worse than anything they knew under apartheid. This week, 21 human rights activists from South Africa visited Israel. Among them were members of Nelson Mandela's African National Congress; at least one of them took part in the armed struggle and at least two were jailed. There were two South African Supreme Court judges, a former deputy minister, members of Parliament, attorneys, writers and journalists. Blacks and whites, about half of them Jews who today are in conflict with attitudes of the conservative Jewish community in their country. Some of them have been here before; for others it was their first visit.

It is designed to separate two types of people by the government. That is the definition of aparteid. No arguement at all.

yes, he may be well meaning but I think this is the part that sums up his reasoning:

the people of Europe have formed a Union of promise and prosperity

so does he think this same kind of 'promise and prosperity' can be brought to us with a NAU??

yes, no and maybe and ich bin ein (jelly donut)berliner almost... gorby, do tear down YOUR wall...

I bet when Obama said "tear down walls" he meant only in Western (white) nations. For some reason the middle east can live in their own seperate communitys and Jews can segregrate the muslims. However we have to accept that all cultures are equal and anyone that says otherwise is a racist National Socialist monster.

Conditions there have been looking more and more like an apartheid lately, this is BBC front page headline right now:

Boy killed in West Bank protest

Israeli troops have shot dead a 12-year-old Palestinian boy during a protest against Israel's barrier in the occupied West Bank, medics say.

The Israeli military said it was investigating what had happened.

It happened at Nilin village, west of Ramallah, where peace activists say Israel is taking 25 hectares of land from villagers to build the barrier.

The Israeli army is replacing the main access road to the village with a tunnel under military control.

Activists say the plan will have the effect of turning Nilin into a prison. Israel says the barrier and other construction work is necessary for security reasons.

'Serious' inquiry

The boy was identified by local organisers of the anti-barrier protest as Hamad Musa, AFP reported.

He was hit in the head by a live bullet fired by Israeli soldiers and died of his wounds while being transported to hospital, Palestinian medical sources said.

One activist told AFP the army dispersed protesters near the barrier using rubber-coated bullets and tear gas, and then fired live rounds at people gathering in the village.

Fifteen people were also reported injured by rubber-coated bullets during the demonstration.

He is still a Jew puppet.

Obama at AIPAC

Obama may be a puppet of war monger Israeli lobby, he by no means represents all Jews. Jews are not a monolithic group even if groups with extreme and pro war agenda tend to be more organized and vocal in America.

Editorial: We need a U.S. leader unfettered by the Israel lobby

By Haaretz Editorial

..

The history of Israel's relationship with the U.S., primarily since 1967, attests to the flimsy connection between public statements by presidential hopefuls - and even their explicit pledges right before the ballots are counted - and the Middle East policy they adopt upon taking office.

One of the prime examples was the commitment to relocate the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem by 1999. Although this initiative was passed into law 13 years ago, Bill Clinton and George Bush used their authority to put its implementation on hold.

The hope is that Obama left Jerusalem and Ramallah with a deeper understanding of the need to shelve the flowery statements that his Jewish affairs advisors had devised for him, if he is to truly be "a friend of Israel."

One should keep in mind that the interests of the Israel lobby in America do not always jibe with the interests of the State of Israel. Instead of talking about a "united Jerusalem," he needs to become involved in finding a realistic solution for Israel's torn and bleeding capital.

To survive as a Jewish and democratic state, Israel needs an American leader who does not fear the reaction of American Jews and non-Jews who do not believe in dividing the land to reconcile its two peoples.

Maybe he differentiates between walls to keep people out and walls to keep people in. I doubt it but you never know.

.
Until the American people figure out that these people who call themselves "Jews" are not GODS covenant people or the Israelites of the Old Testament this insane support for the state of Israel will continue.

These "Judeo-Christian" churches call Moses a Jew yet the word Jew was not used until 1,500 years later (about 400 BC). The word "Jew" referred to descendants of Judah - who was one of the twelve sons of Jacob Israel. The word "Jew" has never been used to refer to the descendants of the other eleven sons of Jacob Israel.

The house of Judah, called "Jews," had became multi-cultural 2,000 years ago. Jesus Christ was a Judean - a direct descendant of Adam and Eve. The Caananites, the Hittites, the Perruzites, etc. were also citizens of the Judean nation. They were of mixed race. They were also called "Jews."

The word "Jew" had became a generic, catchall term 2,000 years ago.

When Jesus came the Judeans, which were Israelites, were called Christian. All the others got to keep the name "Jew."

Christianity, when properly taught, is very politically incorrect. In today's terminology you could even call Christianity "racist." I suppose that that is one reason so many churches have drifted away from it.

If these churches were to start teaching facts out of the Bible the American people would begin to figure things out. If we want to save our people we are going to have to get back to true Christianity.

Jimmy Carter has read the Bible. He knows who's who and what's what.
