Afghan President Hamid Karzai agreed on a cooperation pact with Iran, despite continuing to resist signing a security agreement with the U.S., Reuters reported.
Karzai made the deal with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in Tehran Sunday.
"Afghanistan agreed on a long-term friendship and cooperation pact with Iran," Karzai's spokesman Aimal Faizi said, according to Reuters. "The pact will be for long-term political, security, economic and cultural cooperation, regional peace and security."

Karzai says U.S. drone strike killed child, won’t sign security deal if similar attacks continue

Washington Post-Nov 28, 2013
KABUL — Afghan President Hamid Karzai accused the United States of ... not to sign a long-term security agreement if similar attacks continue.

But Karzai has been reluctant to sign it, saying he first wants assurances that the United States won’t meddle in Afghan elections next year, will cease military raids on Afghan homes, and will help start peace talks between Karzai’s government and Taliban insurgents. For the latter, he has demanded that the United States release 17 Afghan prisoners from the U.S. detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Now, Karzai has added a reduction of U.S. airstrikes to his list of demands.

“This attack shows that American forces are not respecting the life and safety of Afghan people’s houses,” he said in the statement. He added, “For years, our innocent people have become victims of the war under the name of terrorism, and they have had no safety in their homes.”

Is Afghan President Rejecting US Security Pact Due to Mysterious Civilian Killings in Wardak Province?
Monday, 09 December 2013

Earlier this year, American forces were driven out of Nerkh, a district of Wardak, Afghanistan, after accusations emerged that the troops were engaging in the torture and killing of innocent civilians. Between October 2012 and February 2013, 17 Afghan civilians were detained in Wardak province by U.S. forces. In May, 10 of them were discovered buried in shallow graves near the American base in Nerkh.
Two months after the bodies were found, a U.N. report on civilian deaths in the country concluded, “The reported disappearances, arbitrary killings and torture – if proven to have been committed under the auspices of a party to the armed conflict – may amount to war crimes.”
Despite local protests, outrage from human rights organizations and the urging of the Afghan government, the U.S. chose not to cooperate with the investigation into the civilian deaths. Three weeks ago, Afghanistan's intelligence service discontinued the investigation on the grounds the U.S. had refused to grant it access to soldiers accused of orchestrating the killings.

Just a consequence of who and what this country has become. Ron says it best,

"If we think that we can do what we want around the world and not incite hatred, then we have a problem."

Just more blowback and it's no where near to being over. This country is hated world wide.

Let's see. We invade Iraq. Iraq becomes an even worse place to live and becomes more allied with our enemy Iran and a haven for Al Qaeda.

We invade Afghanistan. Afghanistan becomes an even worse place to live and becomes more allied with our enemy Iran and a haven for Al Qaeda. (In 2001 I wouldn't have thought that was possible.)

We take "kinetic action" (bomb) Libya. Libya becomes an even worse place to live and becomes a haven for Al Qaeda..

We help the "rebels" in Syria. Syria becomes an even worse place to live and becomes more allied with our enemy Iran and a haven for Al Qaeda.

Does anyone else see the pattern?
